Help me with choosing a delay!

Try the medium sized El Capistan please. You seem like not the kind of person who would be satisfied with a three-knob pedal.

I dream that if you buy more than 5 pedals from a boutique brand, they should give a small car with it for free.

Let's just say I'm looking for something that's at least on par with everything I already own

You know if you remove that Boss delay there is room for a Korg SDD-3000, another delay that I love. :)

Most delay pedals have a Mix or some kind of wet/dry. Are you after Tape saturation ala Deco/El Cap? The Edge dotted 8ths digital delay? Ambient? Slapback? Or just a delay that looks cool?

Buy something that looks good with your Cornish array

Strymon Timeline
Electronic Audio Sending
EQD Disaster Transport
Wampler Metaverse
GFI Solis Venturis
Rockett Clockwork Echo
Fairfield Meet Maude
Collision Devices Black Hole Symmetry

I wouldn’t call the alter ego (or flashback) “simple”. If you need a number of quickly accessible by foot switch presets they aren’t great, but they get a WIDE range of sounds with custom editing available in the app.
Yeah, I always end up using it. It fits the criteria with the kill dry and it works well with a hot signal and as a plus it has stereo ins and outs. And the weird version of tap tempo works rather nicely. To be fair, you can only tweak the TonePrint slot but it’s useful. I usually put a really clean delay in that slot but usually use the EREC2.

Thank you very much for your advice

Thanks! I was a bit blinded by the Pete Cornish gear and didn’t notice the DM-2w and Astral Destiny.

The space in the board is too small for a Timeline unless it replaces the DM-2w. Maybe an Avalanche Run to pair with the Destiny? A Boss DD-200 may fit better than a DD-500

What do you seek that your DM-2w cannot do?

My all time favorite delay pedal is the Free The Tone Flight Time delay. It's really simple to use and sounds incredible. It does have kill dry and analog pass through. It's the closest I've found to my old 2290 rack.
Before that I was using the Boss DD500, which is also great, but the sound quality of the FT is superior IMHO.

I am surprised because someone had told me that inserting a Dummy jack in DM-2w will do it.

Guess I will have to do even more research if and when I wanna buy more pedals. Will probably be an older lady by then.

There is nothing wrong with the DM-2w, in fact, I find the sound wonderfully warm. The only problem is that, once connected to the S/R, it seems to sound sterile, I feel like it is losing something... Now, it has a DIRECT OUT output, into which I can insert a dummy jack, but the problem is that I probably need a line mixer that I wanted to avoid using. If I connect the DM-2w in this way, without a line mixer, when I play you only hear the WET, as if there was a signal latency. I hope I was clear...

Yes, it's true. But the problem is that I probably need a line mixer that I wanted to avoid using. If I connect the DM-2w in this way, without a line mixer, when I play you only hear the WET, as if there was a signal latency. if I'm not talking nonsense...

If you use a dummy plug on the direct out then you are separating the wet and dry signals and without a mixer, you only get the wet. In normal operation the Intensity knob should probably work as a mix knob.

"Sounds sterile" could be anything - you just don't like how the pedal sounds, or there's a level drop that might be perceived as "tone suck", or it doesn't work well with your amp's fx loop. If your amp has a parallel loop, what you might be hearing is phase issues. Then you are going to need a pedal with kill dry.

I think you should avoid overthinking the line mixer and just go try some more delay pedals and see if you like those better in standard use.

People have recommended you a lot of good multi-delay options, but I wouldn't rule out more purpose built units either. As a fan of Strymons, you could pick anything from the El Capistan to Volante, Dig, the new EC-1 etc and see how you like those. Volante might be a good option for your board as it can offer you a spring reverb and simple looper too.

I totally agree with your words.
I imagined that without a line mixer (which I would not want to use) I would not have been able to obtain the result.
As for the S/N - I doubt that the amp in question does not have a good S/N and I confirm that the S/N is serial.
Here is what the manual says: "Serial, full-tube effects loop recallable via footswitch."
The idea of buying a unit that is more multi-purpose (Delay and Rev) is not bad at all, given that my head does not have Reverb....

This is what kill-dry does - kills your dry signal so that all you hear is wet. If you have a line mixer, try the DM2 with that in this kill-dry mode.

If you don’t have a line mixer, then I would either spend some money on one and try it with the DM2, or stop trying delays in the loop. Sounding more sterile/clinical/clean/detailed/controlled is kind of the goal of putting a time-based effect in an effects loop.

Thank you so much indeed - I figured I'd need the line mixer to get the best result
