Helix Stadium wishlist

Stadium Wishlist:

a) The most accurate amp models on the planet - warts and all.
b) All the amp models from the Helix re-done
c) The most accurate overdrive pedal models on the planet
d) Better reverb (Fractal is benchmark here
e) I'd love a mini-DAW as part of Showcase. Would be so handy to have. We already have a mic preamp and guitar/bass inputs so a few remaining tracks could be used for drums and keyboards.

Do you mean midi drums and keyboards tracks?

Preferably a/b vs d.
A/B would end up a lot bigger though; I've been a fan of A/B over D but now after owning a Bluguitar Amp1 Iridium, I'm not sure .. that has a Class D (plus that tube for current feedback) amp in it and kicks a lot of a$$.

One area I hope we see innovation is in the headphone playing experience. I’d love to see outside-the-box novel approaches to representing amps in the same physical space I’m in, be it Spatial Audio, holographic binaural stuff, or <insert-mystery-technology>.

Perhaps that’s a totally unrealistic target, but I remain skeptical that there’s NOTHING we can do to get more creative with headphone jamming.

I spend a whole lot more time playing through cans than I do jumping around on stage these days.

The Waza Airs come to mind.
A kind of "soundstage" without having to add whatever ambience FX to your patch might indeed be nice.

That would be cool.

The Waza Air depends heavily on a gyro sensor on headphones that can detect your orientation and movement. With no real standard for this sort of stuff, and afaik no defacto addon you could clamp on headphones, I don't see this sort of thing supported using 3rd party accessories.

But Helix could do the "position the cab in a 3D space" so it sound like it's e.g behind you. While it won't move if you turn, it could be a cool thing to simulate a live playing experience for example.

Honestly, that sounds like the type of thing that would be used, more than once, by just a 0.5% of the user base.

Yeah I could do without the head tracking and all that. Truth be told I’d just be excited to see someone exploring possibilities in that space.

I’d love to know whether the Waza Air has been successful for Boss. They clearly thought that there was a strong enough market to not only develop some interesting technology, but also to sell it as a standalone product. Most reviews I’ve seen have been positive.

I think it was Digital Igloo who said, long ago, that Boss can allow themselves doing some stuff others can't because they sell so much of many products, so certain "uncommon" products are not as risky as it would be to other companies.

Was he is in a galaxy far far away?

In reality neither of us knows whether the Waza air has been successful, which is why I didn’t make any claim about broad appeal. A vague unsubstantiated claim from another forum member here doesn’t add any weight to your position either.

Simply, I frequently use my amp modeling devices through headphones, and believe that there is likely room to innovate in that space in the future.

Another forum member who happens to be Chief Product Design Architect at Yamaha, yes.

I didn't mean to have more weight in this conversation (not even debate, at least not for me), honestly. I was just commenting I don't see your suggestion something that Line6 would feel it's worth investing time and resources on.

Of course I wouldn't mind if they added it. One has to be really silly to want a company not to develop something he wouldn't use. For instance, I will never make an amp capture with Proxy and seriously doubt I'll ever use a capture block in my presets, but those are features highly demanded and I understand Line6 worked on it, as it will boost sales.

I didn't get the "Was he is in a galaxy far far away?", btw 😅

Which galaxy are YOU from?? Not this one.

1 - LFO/Envelope controllers assignable to any parameter
2 - Better delay/verb algos
3 - If it carries from the OG Helix, there are better choices for the default input impedances of a few blocks. There's no good reason to make the input impedance low for pretty much anything other than drive/fuzz blocks.
4 - pitch to midi
5 - better use of the mic in. Vocal oriented effects. Instrument controlled Harmonizer. Talk Box/Vocoder style effects.
