I don‘t think many people are really able to hear a thing like DC offset.
Thanks for the reply. I don’t find animation very useful unfortunately. But I do feel the need to comment on it and ignore any point being made.
I think in the end it matters. Even to those of us without golden ears.
Did you check your sensitivity settings? Is this slightly overdriving the input? (which will happen with too high sensitivity settings)Axe-Fx III unprocessed 200 Hz sine wave

Of course. The signal level was low enough to avoid any clipping. The red LED on the Axe-Fx didn't even blink once.Did you check your sensitivity settings? Is this slightly overdriving the input? (which will happen with too high sensitivity settings)
What about on the Setup->I/O-> input tab?Of course. The signal level was low enough to avoid any clipping. The red LED on the Axe-Fx didn't even blink once.
I’m not saying it doesn’t matter. Just wondering how much. There’s plenty of folks who read this discussions that may not know and base purchasing decisions on things that might have no relevance to them.I think in the end it matters. Even to those of us without golden ears.
As long as the input LED isn't red - why would I change the sensitivity settings? What about on the Setup->I/O-> input tab?
Did it consider blinking? Even slightly?Of course. The signal level was low enough to avoid any clipping. The red LED on the Axe-Fx didn't even blink once.
Some folks are more sensitive than others that’s why!As long as the input LED isn't red - why would I change the sensitivity settings?
Yeah true.As long as the input LED isn't red - why would I change the sensitivity settings?
All part of the bigger plan!I make jokes but the point is serious. And I do appreciate our scientists here. As well as @JiveTurkey for some reason I don’t fully understand yet.

Somewhere way back in the Helix journey, I remember becoming aware of those unrelated tones when playing through the HX Vox & Marshall amps using stock Ripple settings. Once heard, I found that I couldn't unhear those ghost notes and it really bothered me. Eventually I did the research and, after finding out that they do actually feature in those amps in real life, was absolutely ok with them. The funny thing is that I had never noticed ghost notes even once in all my years of playing through my real JCM800.@KingsXJJ I don‘t think many people are really able to hear a thing like DC offset. But the ghost notes and their harmonics caused by ripple? Yes, that can be audible. We are of course counting peas here, but if that leads to the constant improvement of already great gear, then more and more people will have spiritual experiences playing it, just like you had playing your favorite capture.
