I have an FB friend who is an absolute monster. Every other day is like a New Chibson Day post. I often wonder why he doesn't just buy fewer good things instead of 43 turds that he has to polish

I won’t ever own counterfeit shit. I’m fine with an Agile or JET or whatever, because it’s not trying to pass off as a Gibson or Fender. But buying this shit only encourages it.

Especially when something a new Epiphone is pretty well made now. A lot better than they were 20 years ago, IMO.
Personally I don't care what you play but it does remind me a little of the women that have $50 purse fakes to look like they spent thousands just for the bling factor. To each their own...

The only semi-counterfeit piece of gear I own is a Demonfx "Gladiator", which is a 1:1 copy of the Gladio Dual V2.
Bought on AliExpress, mainly because it's no longer in production and I was curious about the toanz, but already knew in advance that it'd spend very little time on the board.
That said, craftsmanship is pretty good and it sounds nice. Does indeed "Dumble" a lot.

I got an unbranded Explorer off Temu, and it was a real turd. I ended up sending it back, and found a Firefly Explorer for the same price on Amazons resale site. MUCH nicer guitar. Needed a setup, as they all do, but plays fast and smooth now.
I was surprised that it came with a bone nut. Pickups were doodoo so I swapped them out for some Duncans. If you can find one of these used for a decent deal (I paid $250), jump on it. they're well worth it!

That’s not what I’d consider a counterfeit. My 78 year old mom can read a headstock and know it’s not a Gibson. She wouldn’t be able to determine a fake with Gibson on the headstock wasn’t real.

I have an online friend who is disabled, and buys all sorts of cheap crap, but he's just a bedroom player, so he has fun tweaking them and uploading hilarious "shred" videos.
