GT-1000 with 3rd party IR sounds diferent than IR loader

i have noticed that when doing some convertions, the IRs tend to have a lot less high frequencies than the original full IR
Odd, my IR experience has been somewhat opposite. They all sound kinda fuzzy and hollow compared to loading them somewhere else and I have to push the resonance and lows more to get the same frequency balance as the stock cabs.

weird. I converted my york audio IRs from 92 to 41.1 and 1024 samples, and noticed always less highs. Maybe it depends on the IRs themselves? Also, I used cabinetron for the convertions

I have a theory. I found this on the cabinetron plugin:

Maybe the Boss GT-1000 aplies a process close to this?

FROM ROLAND:

So just to clarify things properly:
The GT‑1000 doesn’t apply “smoothing” in the sense of Cabinentron’s feature; it reshapes the IR slightly when it converts it to the internal format.

What you’re describing, RE the high‑end reduction compared to loading the full IR directly, may be consistent with what other GT‑1000 users have measured. It isn’t a fault with your unit; it’s simply how the internal IR conversion works.

I completely understand why you’re checking this so thoroughly. If you rely on very detailed IRs (especially bright ones), even a subtle change in the top end becomes noticeable when you sustain chords or A/B against the original file

How many messages do you have to send before a real person replies with a relevant comment? Their AI CS thing is garbage. If you have someone’s ear maybe mention that they’re at least a decade behind in this area. I’d take an additional 30 seconds of boot time if it meant fixing some of this goofy shit.

yeah, i suspected this was AI. By the way, more from them:

If you want to keep as much of the high‑end as possible, these two approaches may help:

Pre‑truncate your IR to 1024 samples using a high‑quality editor, rather than letting the GT‑1000 do the truncation. That gives you more control over what gets preserved.

Apply a small high‑shelf boost (around 4–6 kHz) using an EQ block placed after the SP block, or adjust the high end in Global EQ in the MAIN OUTPUT SETTING on your GT-1000CORE. Many users find this restores the ‘air’ that can be lost in the conversion.

What an incredible effort just to make a trivial process such as IR loading work.
I'm soo happy I just trashed all the GT amp modeling, life is much better in Tonex land.

I don't understand the issue. I've loaded Leon Todd's TV Mix 7 IR into mine and it sounds great to me. Maybe it would sound different with an external IR loader, but if it sounds good to me, I really don't care.

the point is if im using an IR, i want the sound from that IR, not a changed IR sound that mimics the IR i purchased.
