I use the XModded IRs. I believe the 2cm one, iirc? I renamed them a long time ago. Link above is from a vguitarforums.com user.

got an explanation from boss:I noticed pretty much the same with the GT-1000 and finally gave up on loading IRs into the unit. Whenever I use the internal amps, I'm as well using the internal cabs, possibly followed by an EQ. But on my main board, I gave up and decided to rather not use any Boss amps at all, so problem kinda solved for the time being.
On a sidenote: It's quite amazing how Boss managed to spoil any fun one could have in creating new patches, both sonically and especially from a usability POV. I have created three banks of 5 patches by now, two somewhat different ones for board usage, one for standalone operation. I hope I never need to touch any editing functions again until the day where I might find a proper replacement.
what is a flat mic?
got an explanation from boss:
nice, ah ah ah
i noticed a diference when using IR from ML Sound Lab and York Audio in terms of compression, probably beause of Boss conversion. ML irs are made with tube power amps and York are made with solid state power amp. ML Irs feel more compressed in the boss gt1000 compared to the york audio irs. However, when using both in the IR loader, they feel the same, only the sound is diferent.Wow, that's lameness at its finest!
Sure, I want my IRs to be "EQ compensated" by whomever is behind that algorithm, likely the same guys not managing to come up with a single amp model not compressing as if there's no tomorrow.
ML Irs feel more compressed in the boss gt1000 compared to the york audio irs.
I did not say that. I´m saying the Boss gt1000 convertion makes it feel that wayFwiw, IRs don't add compression. They simply can't technically, regardless of how they've been created.
I did not say that. I´m saying the Boss gt1000 convertion makes it feel that way
Reading Boss's response, you may be getting BossSauceZero?Hence my previously mentioned irony above

I might get the big tonex pedal, and try to ignore the added noise from the Boss gt1000 core send return, which is another pain in the ass. Or I might rob a bank and buy the quad cortex, ah ah ahOh right, my mistake, been misreading it, sorry!

Anyhow, that Boss reply is quite tough to swallow. I mean, why would you plan to create, download or even purchase a nicely curated bunch of IRs to use with your GT/GX unit when the outcome is completely unpredictable, just because the geniuses at Boss thought that IRs shouldn't sound as they're intended to?
It's like buying a sampler, loading a piano sample into it and it would all of a sudden sound like a clavinet.
Boss: "Yeah, we thought you'd prefer a clsvinet over a piano!". "No, there's no way to switch that function off!"
Heck, I could even kinda understand that they want you to buy into all that AIRD voodoo. Fine (well, it actually isn't, but let's assume it is). But they completely lost it on "EQ compensation". Like factually lost it.
I mean, in the first place, an IR is a highly complexed EQ setting (sure, there's a timebased component as well, but the EQ part is most essential). And who on earth would want a highly complexed EQ setting to be "compensated" (whatever that even means), when pretty much the only reason for loading the IR was to get that highly complexed EQ setting applied to your amp tone?
I've used those IRs before -- they don't sound bad!
and try to ignore the added noise from the Boss gt1000 core send return
is not the tonex problem. Is boss, per usual. Try a patch with nothing on except the send return. It adds noise. Also, even if you have it on in a diferent path from the divider, the sound from the guitar being played somehow creeps in on the path that is engaged. Imagine this: send return turned on on path B (turned off), but path A is on. If if playing someting, some sound from path B (send return) keeps appering.Btw, have you ever tried powering the ToneX One via USB while it's sitting in the GT's loop? I read it might have some issues being powered through the regular 9V socket.
An "IR" "captured without a mic". I don't believe them when they say this.what is a flat mic?
