I like it. I like it a lot.

RV-6 and RV-200 are going back. Pair of absolute no hoper pedals, not fit for the Hail Satan P&W that I lurve.

The Golden makes me want to wee with excitement.

But I still don't like the Starlight very much. I mean, it's okay.... but didn't knock my socks off.

WTF have you been looking at my youtube and ebay search history? I've been digging into the Golden for a few days now.

Looking forward to hearing your thoughts on this when you've spent proper time with it.

I have some very controversial opinions already.....

Give it some time. You'll loathe it in a week.
Well.. I tell you what, I shot out:

Golden... Walrus Audio Lore, Fable, Sloer, and Mako R1 MKII.... and every single time I went back to the Golden, it was the clear winner.

The Walrus stuff.... very very tempted to say that while they sound good in Youtube ambient demos with a handful of chords, they don't really do it for me in the context of my type of music. I could be wrong, but I wasn't really enjoying them.

The Golden.... it has the same kind of aggro sound that the RV-5 can do, but is a bit more detailed and fuller. I don't even think the Axe reverbs are as good right now yknow...... <I know! I know! Controversial!>

I've always been intrigued by these pedals.

The UAD plugins sound great. I dabble with the Lexicon 224 a decent amount but just was using the Pure Plate and it sounds awesome. I'd guess it's the same algos in the pedal. The modulation and delay plugins are cool too but don't have the same options as the pedals.

Haven't been a fan of the Boss delay/reverb pedals I've tried so far...would be intrigued by a UAD setup if I needed physical pedals and had $1500 for them lol

As much as UA annoy the hell out of me, the Golden is the best-sounding reverb pedal I've ever owned.

It's better than their other FX pedals too - which seemed to try and cram in features to the Golden enclosure (the first pedal they released), but they don't fit or make sense. And then there's the shitty Bluetooth, of course.

But again, the tones are really superb.

@Orvillain I also agree that the Starlight isn't as quite as good as UA claim it is 🤣

I’ve tried walrus reverbs to and agree, they’re nice. But they have noise stuff going on that I didn’t appreciate, and in both Fathom and Slö, it came from the pedals in bypassed state (buffer on for trails) which made them hard to place in the signal chain. Their Fundamental Ambient had a fundamental flaw in that it cleared its “memory” after 30 seconds…turning off the trails… stupid.

Edit: and before someone come in here and mock me for being silly about 30 seconds trails. Yeah. It’s silly as f. But f you.

The Golden is still my favourite reverb pedal for guitar. I'd like to grab one of the Heavenly plate pedals at some point, as I mostly used the plate sounds on the Golden anyway.

Haven't even tried it in stereo yet. Sounds pretty sick in front of my Mark V - and stacked with the MercuryX too!

I have the UA Heavenly pedal, which I believe is the same algo as the plate on the Golden. I like it a lot! It’s mono, though, as opposed to the Golden…

I have the Evermore pedal which is the Hall/224 algo. Sounds awesome despite it being mono. My only gripe is the predelay is just a switch vs a knob so I just leave it off all the time. I’ll need to try it out going into dirt.

The Golden is incredible. Beautiful reverbs and super fast to tweak. I think I've pressed the preset footswitch twice since I've owned the pedal, I just leave it at manual settings. Updating and app are BS, but who cares.

I wish the plate mode had longer decay. That's about if for my complaints.

For the price, it's a no-brainer if you don't need all the bells and whistles of some of the competition.
