Fractal Talk

This is one of the few things that I’d actually jump on from the 90’s and it wouldn’t have to be a GREAT price, just a good one.

There’s a few things from the eighties I’d like to jump on myself.

And for our pedal format:

Hail to the almighty VG8! I did gig for more than 5 years with that Japanese Tank. These were the times!

Multiple units changed at the rack, but the VG8 remained at the floor. Even when the Axe-FX Standard and the Axe-fX Ultra came out, I still had it on the floor. As MIDI controller to change patches, and for the V-guitars and the synth (I played with a band that required nylon or acoustic guitar for some songs).

The only improvement I would need now at the new AxeFX-V is V-Guitar with Fractal Audio quality :knit😁

@FractalAudio give me a nylon 🐱

This is one of my favourite photos ever. One of my first memories of the guitar is my Dad firing up a brand new VG8 and making all sorts of wild sounds with it. The cat is just magnificent.

I never had one of those vg8 older units, but i hear they have made a bit of a comeback lately with some artists.

These days I use the new boss vg-800 and boss gm-800 with my fractal stuff and can do more with those then the older units but I guess nostalgia will always win for some.

Man, having a all in one fractal unit would be amazing. All the fractal amps and effects with the boss vg-800 alternate tunings, virtual guitars and fretboard splitting and string splitting and then add in a polyphonic synth that can be used a few times to stack sounds etc. Even if we have to use a fractal hex pickup too!

Would be AMAZINGGG all in one unit.

I wish the Variax guitars were still in production. I had one and it was sick, I wish I kept it to play around with.

Man, what a dumbass I was to sell my GP-10.

In addition to adding Roland/Boss VG functionality, I'd love to add a Sim1 XT-1. Here's a link to a Sound on Sound review, if you're unfamiliar:

The company is out of business, so the IP would probably be cheap (assuming another company hasn't bought it already). The original device was not easy to use. The interface was nearly unusable in a live context, and everything about the interface and profiling was painful to use. But the sounds that it produced were excellent. I sent a PM to Matt at Fractal offering to send them mine so they could take a look, but no one replied, so I assume that using this sort of technology was not of interest. But it would be awesome to have it included in the next gen Fractal platform.
