Fractal Talk

Yesterday on the Worship channel I don’t think Fractal handles a boost upfront as well as stadium

Ha if you’re referring to the video we posted on Worship Tutorials re: Stadium, a couple points…

1. I said that I think Fractal is the gold standard in modeling, and we’ve said many times on WT and Signal Theory that we think Axe-FX iii is the best sounding unit. (This is prior to the Stadium release). We also have said many times we think Fractal has hands down the best FX, and the effects in Stadium are not new

2. I do feel that Agoura amp models in Stadium sound as good as Fractal models. Controversial statement, I realize. And it is by no means scientific. But it is my opinion.

3. I do think the way the Agoura models handle lots of gain *with big reverbs and delays* into the front of the amp is more natural and more accurate to real amps than Fractal models. It’s subtle, but again - it’s my opinion.

I think Bradford and I also said in that video that we prefer the reverbs in fractal units over Line 6.

So my comment wasn’t about drives into amps as much as it was about wet FX.

I also don’t think Cliff is watching 23 minutes into a Worship Tutorials video 😂😂

No worries , honestly it was more of just a light joke at how responsive FAS has been in the past to any area that it was pointed out could be improved upon and posting updates on Thanksgiving no less .

Did not mean to offend or call out anybody here

Ha no offense taken. I didn’t take it that way at all. And I agree 100% about Fractal’s commitment to improving things.

I really just wanted to take an opportunity clarify my statements though, given this is a Fractal thread and who reads these posts ha. I didn’t want people to assume, ‘this guy says Stadium sounds better than Axe-FX’ or something, because it’s much more complex and nuanced than that when it comes to these modeling units.

There are tons of Fractal owners on this forum in general, but we’re not the freaky fan boy types. You won’t get flamed for preferring Helix by anybody here, the forum has a “Two drama queen limit” and neither of them own Fractals. You’re good.

Your observations made things better, no hate. :D

With the latest FM9 beta I'm kind of at a point where I feel this chewiness and elasticity to the amps that I hope doesn't go away with new firmwares. Normally I don't notice much of a difference with the modeling changes advancements beyond minor changes to frequency response, but these latest changes seem to make the amps breathe more or something.

I would offer a slight variation on that very accurate statement which would read "Thinking has been on a steady decline over the past few decades."!
And to be clear, it is not 100% peoples fault. We have stopped teaching critical thinking in schools and now just teach how to pass whatever tests they need to get the funding for the schools. Computers (this includes phones, laptops, desktops, tablets, calculators, etc.) have reduced our needs to think. Social media is used to amplify 10 voices to be the loudest sound in the room. Not saying this makes it all ok, just saying it is somewhat a manufactured condition! That is about as far as I can go without getting in trouble (though I may have already arrived at that station, who can tell these days)!

Yep. Super happy with the feel now. The latest FM9 beta kinda dulled my curiosity for Stadium at the moment. I love the continued emphasis on amp model improvements, esp with the AM4 being out. Also, being able to tweak DynaCab alignment is soooo nice.
