I’ll be contrarian. On modern devices its relatively easy to provide storage. There’s no excuse to limit a big ticket over the top kind of processor like the AxeFx III in terms of IR slots. Mine is completely full and I have way more I would not mind loading on there. I’d love to have every IR I have on the device and use it as my librarian rather than a directory on my computer, etc.I honestly felt like the 10 user cab slots on the Axe-FX Ultra was a lot. I still do.
If you want to only use 5-10 slots you can do that too. No judgement.
There’s zero point in limiting it on higher end devices where the design/cost trade off is negligible. On a floor processor fine, there are a lot design constraints in that realm especially as you get to really price sensitive targets where everything counts toward the final cost.
But I like modelers for their options that’s their value proposition, so on a flag ship for the premier innovator in the industry that costs in the well over $2K+ range it should absolutely be/feel over the top in terms of capability/options.
Dynacabs have limited the utility of IRs on the Axe but really I don’t get b*tching about something being too capable. If you want a limited device get one of the lower end units.
IMHO.
