Too a risk on a DynaCab for wrestlemetal. 5153 2x12 with dynamic 2 mic. Sounds middy-AF through the FR12. We'll see how it shakes out next week. EMGs on a related note are so weird after jamming the Dimarzios :sofa

Ya get that rush of upper mids roaring in your face with the EMGs??

Is there a phase control in the dyna-cab block? Everytime I try dyna-cabs I find something I like generally speaking but there is always this definite phase overload compared to the Boss IR. Is it just a mids thing versus the Boss IR being naturally scooped?

I’d think that’s a mids-thing and probably a result of getting curated IR packs in the past where they didn’t include every IR that showed how many areas of the speaker are mid-dominant. Once I find the right treble/bass response from a DynaCab, I start going in very, very, very tiny movements to figure out the mids, usually going left to right rather than up or down. TINY movements.

Compared to the DiMarzios; it's just more of EVERYTHING.

I corrected for it using the FR12 onboard active EQ and it seemed to do the trick enough. I am doing a lot of tail chasing waiting for this next jam session so hyper obsessing over tone when I need to be playing. I might zero out the eq and try another tweak on the dynacab. Another issue it trying to find the impedance curve I like to bridge the gap as well. Some of the 4x12 curves sound too bassy and scooped with my dynacab settings. I'm using the 5153 2x12 dynacab and the impedance curve of the Mesa C90 cab.

Which Dimarzios are you using ?
I find the EMGs pretty compressed , i like them but I seem to prefer the more open classic. Hot PAF tone
@DrewJD82 Regarding Suhr Impdedance
Curve looks like it just got implemented

Man, I haven’t even touched the impedance curves since I was using my FM9 into real cabs, where I tweaked the impedance curves to change how my actual cabs sounded.

Once ya got a room full of loud musicians you’ll most likely end up tweaking some more!!

I know people can make them sound great like metallica and david gilmour etc. I just never been a fan of EMG's. Always sounded sterile and lifeless to me.

The SA’s (Gilmour’s pickups) surprised the hell out of me. I also find the humbuckers to be sterile/lifeless/scratchy, but the SA’s are pretty damn great, even without the boosters doing anything to them.

D-Activators. And actually; the V I am using for this has a 500t and 498 in it.

WIRMWARE WEDNESDAY (cliff said it, not me lol)

Hopefully fm9 is coming soon since this one came out of public beta pretty fast :D

Axe-Fx III Firmware Release Notes

31.00

Improved preamp modeling in Amp block. This yields more accurate harmonic response and better feel. NOTE: The Preamp Tube Hardness parameter functions differently now. Existing presets are automatically updated to the default value for the amp model.

Improved power amp modeling in Amp. This yields a more controlled low end, especially for non-MV amps.

Added “Surround Delay” type to Delay block. This type produces “rotating” echoes that appear to move around the listener. The Rotation parameter determines how rapidly the echoes rotates. With Rotation at 100% the echoes will rotate 180 degrees each time (front, back, front, etc). At 50% the echoes will rotate 90 degrees (front, right, back, left, front, etc.). Negative values will cause the echoes to rotate in the opposite direction.

Added “Auto Align” switch to Cabinet block. When OFF the IR is delayed by the appropriate amount based on the Distance parameter (automatic time alignment is turned on). The user can add additional delay using the Align tab. Note that the actual delay can be less than the displayed delay as all IR delays are normalized to the shortest delay (so as to minimize overall latency). The Align tab has been changed to display the delay in ms rather than distance to reduce confusion with the Distance parameter. NOTE: Existing presets will have Auto Align set to ON as this was the prior behavior.

Added On/Off switch for Metronome. This can be controlled remotely as well by setting the desired control source in the MIDI/Remote -> Other menu.

Added Suhr Reactive Load Speaker Impedance Curve.

Various other fixes and improvements.
