I feel like I get a mix of marshall and mesa boogie... Like low end of a mesa but high end of a marshall but that could just be me

challenges and time constraint stuff gives me anxiety ;P and I procrastinate too much lol

It’s pretty much set up so there’s no pressure, you can practically record 3 seconds of rubbing your tongue along the strings and it’ll qualify.

I just go straight to Cantrell when I dial in a Friedman, which is entirely different than how I approach dialing in Marshalls, where I’ll generally crank the Treble and Presence.

I’m anxious to check out that Pitch block update for the III and I’m REALLY hoping anything will trickle to the FM9. I spent forever last night trying to resolve the little glitchy sound when the Whammy engages while also needing a 2nd channel for the Pitch Block with different modifiers, all this time and I had no fucking clue you each Channel can have it’s own modifiers.

I got the stand-in switch on my new FM9 board programmed last night…..that was tedious.

Here’s probably the only UI suggestion I’ll ever make-

For Stand-In Switches, add a function to FC Edit that just says “Add Stand-In Switch”, once you press the button, fields are presented-

Type- Expression or Footswitch
Jack- which jack it’s plugged into
Function- Layout/Scene/Effects- what it’s going to select
Function #- Which # layout, scene or effect
2nd Press-

In my case, I wanted to switch to a specific scene and then switch to the previous scene on the 2nd press. Once you have the switch working it’s a breeze, but getting it recognized by the FM9, then having it added to the 10, 11 or 12 location on FC Edit takes place in different menus than the actual programming of what the switch will do. Surely those 3 different screens can be streamlined down to one box?

Each modifier on a block can be applied to All channels or any single channel.

So, you could have distinct modifiers for each channel but they have to be on different parameters.

Didn’t sound very different to me - did a reamp and compared between 29 and 29.01 beta - it still warbles the same way in my small test case.

Gig Rig G3 > Send 1 > Axe 3 instrument input > Axe3 Output 3 > Gig Rig G3 Return 1 > Gig Rig G3 Output 1 > Mesa Boogie Mark V Front Input

Bringing the Axe3 in and out of the signal path using the G3 ... the signal hitting the front of the amp is much quieter than without.

This was with a very simple preset:
In 1 > Out 3

I checked all block settings and the input gate. Front knobs for the outs were all at maximum.

I couldn't figure it out. I can't remember if it was always doing this.

I put the Helix in its place, and no issue. So I know it is something to do with the Axe3.

Did you use the send 1 block? If so, that's your problem. The send/return blocks are for jumping around on the grid, but do not link to any of the physical inputs or outputs. For that you need to use one of the output blocks as your external loop send, and an input block for the external loop return.

Revisiting some models after the latest update and damn
A few I have never used like the Splawn nitro sound really good , the factory presets really are much improved and better levelled to my ears
Also that Dyna cab orange in the preset is great

If a Dual Rectifier had a baby with a Plexi, it would be the Nitro. Such a clean yet massive bass response with that Plexi-like mid-range. Amazing amp! I prefer Channel 1, interestingly, for some reason. Channel 2 is a bit of a nothing burger, neither here nor there. But Channel 1 sounds so good when you want that slow phat chuggy rhythm tone without the compression of a Dual Rec.

Were you trying to use auto-engage? It’s hard to work around that with auto-engage. I just don’t now. I have a bypass switch assigned to my pitch block.

If you want a whammy with no glitchynous, try this:

Main parameters


Control modifier


Mix modifier


Level modifier


No need for auto engage with this, and there's even no need to bypass the block...it just works.
I'm pretty sure I got this from one of Admin M@'s posts a while back. Kind of a lot of steps to set up, but I love the result!

Have you played the real Nitro? I had one but couldn't get along with it

I edited that post several times before posting and forgot to include that I found Matt's Golden Whammy trick in the process, which @Rock Chalk was kind enough to post here as well.

And yeah, I need to add that wish to the wishlist at FAS. If I want to use this switch for anything else I'll be looking up all that info on how I got it programmed to begin with.
