Smoothing (aka De-phase) lessens the peaks and valleys of the IR curve. It increases the cab in the room experience, and removes the “phasiness” some users are sensible to.

I'm sure it's not fun to mod but I feel like there was a middle ground that could have been reached instead of just getting rid of it.

Idk if you had FAS forum specific issues but other places just put a warning and imo after that, it is on the buyer and seller to do their due diligence

I know I'm not going to win an argument with you and I'm not trying to. However, most every other guitar forum continues to have their marketplace available and leave it to the users.

I know you all placed a warning but again, FAS forum is the only forum I can think of that totally removed it. I thought perhaps it was a different issue that maybe other forums weren't experiencing due to this fact.

So go sell there? There's no real need for a manufacturers forum to have a secondary marketplace on it.

I personally disagree. The first place I would wanna look for used gear for a specific manufacturer would be on their forum (less fees, people familiar with the brand, the for sale forum is going to primarily be the products you are looking for, etc.)

I feel like it's a catch 22 issue.

Letting users sell used stuff on a manufacturer forum is a sure fine way to not get complete sales if people just keep looking to buy used, which then cuts into their business etc.

However I do see where used market on there can help and populate the world of musicians wanting to get into fractal products, but then again it's not like there's no other places that exists for that!

In the end, probably was the right thing to do by removing it as it puts focus back onto the forum of what it's originally made for which is helping others with issues with said products without the worry of being conned / ripped off and then having moderators babysit the area for said reasons etc.. etc..

Just my 1 cent. I don't have 2 cents to give!

I would honestly rather purchase from someone on this forum over eBay/Reverb whatever, especially if I’ve already interacted with them here (plus it removes the middle man scraping their share from the seller and buyer) I can see how that can be a headache to moderate as well.

The entire FAS marketplace discussion was done to death over many many pages on the FAS forum a long time ago.

Can we avoid going down that rabbit hole again? All the answers and reasons are there if you want to go looking for them.

I’ve done it both ways for a very long time. So for no issues. I did set scammed over a Facebook marketplace, but it was all my fault. I didn’t follow my own rules for choosing the seller right.
