Fractal Talk

I don’t even know what we’re waiting for, but

FYI:

Not only did I spit out my hot coffee when seeing that GIF, it went down my windpipe, out of my nose, all over myself, and all over my couch. 😂

There is a user who lives in Ukraine that reports that his apartment building was blown-up by a drone attack. The building burned and he lost all his guitars and his Ace FX III was burned…but it still functioned to a large part. The Fractal distributer in the EU, G66, refurbished his until and made it work perfectly and look almost as good a new! There are before and after photos in the post. That shows how tough Fractal units are!
And another the other day who's Axe Fx III was recovered from a flooded house!

And it's still working...

Since the arrival of my Axe-Fx III, I've been focusing more and more on which amp gives me the best high-gain sound without the need for an added drive. Yes, the 5153 Stealth Blue is a serious contender, but let me just say... Dizzy V4 Blue 4, holy shit!
Those two are exactly my favourite high gain amps on the Fractal 👍🏻👍🏻

Have you tried the FAS amps too?

Interesting that he stated "have...super computer power." That implies that the prototypes are already in existence. That points to an announcement in the next 1-1.5 years (pure speculation).

I will 100% be in on the list for the Axe-FX IV even if it can't run the stage lighting like the HX Stadium Floor XL can.

I’ll definitely be buying whatever is coming next. At this point in the game, I think we’re going to be seeing smaller, less frequent improvements in the amp modeling and a whole lot of attention (and DSP) given to other functions and features.

Man I just dialed in what I think is a killer "double-track" type tone on the III.

It's using a MK V Red Mk IV amp, with whatever Recto cab is in the Petrucci Rig preset. I was playing a fast (129 bpm), 16th note passage from Dance of Eternity, that's all on the low E, then switches to the A, string. So it needs to be tight, tight, tight! It's palm muted too.

But it was sounded a little muddy, so I turned off the Enhancer Block, then looked at whatever else could've been adding to any lack-of-clarity, and found the Pitch Block was on Dual Detune (+/- 6 cents, left/right), but the delay time was up around 15ms. So when I pulled that down to about 3ms., it sounded just like 2 guitars at the same time!

I've played through my rig in stereo, with each 4x12 cab reaching my ears at slightly different times (no delay/mod effects of any kind), so I know what that sounds like, and this was IT!

It's this riff, if anyone's interested in trying it:

5x's, then

then this 5x's:

then it gets into crazy, DT, timing changes, as it walks up. So I wasn't messing with that. I was just trying to get a nice, thick, tight, full tone dialed in, and see how accurate I could play it. It's pretty fun!

Yeah in my book it's always CCV > QuickRod > JVM > 2203 > Atomica. I always seem to struggle with the Atomica models a bit compared to the others. The CCV, Quickrod, and JVM are instantaneously crushing, tho. I can live without any and all other Marshall models except these three.

The Molecular (what Leon asked Nik from Ceriatone to build for him based on the Atomica) has a "Feel" switch which I always like turned on - it makes the amp less hairy / bloated and more lean and aggressive. In the FM3, I usually used the Grinder boost or tweaked the Bright switch to get get in the ballpark.
