Fractal Talk

First Fractal question!

To perform a factory reset, do I just follow the instructions on page 93 of the manual in the PROBLEMS WITH GLOBAL SETTINGS OR PARAMETERS? Or is there a way to restore presets, globals and everything?
Yeah when you're talking way too much gain and boomy bottom end everywhere I first thought of Global settings and EQ being hosed and just nuke and reset to factory defaults. Even if the patch isn't your thing, it shouldn't sound horrific.

So I was curious as to New Presets being the fact that i never really explored the originals in the FM
and I just skimmed over a few and

They are quite awesome. That’s all I’ve been playing this week. Sooo good. Especially when you have a couple amp/cabs libraries ready to sub in quick to personalize them if they don’t immediately grab you. You can just kind of piggyback on the routing and fx ideas others made.

Aaron Marshall, LT Live, 80’s Pop Prog Rock, Stereo Tape Delays, Larry Mitchell. Spoiled for choice with these presets. Throw a dart. lol

What’s it like to program the VP4 and FM9 to work together?

D
It's not awful. But it's not elegant or as easy as staying all in one box.

I have both editors up all the time.

Usually I start with the FM9 preset and then add VP4-based things after I've got base tones working for me in the FM9 preset.

You have to remember to save two things as well.

What I've settled on is having a VP4 preset named the same as my FM9 preset. And then some VP4 presets that get called up in specific scenes for esoteric stuff (like the Zapped preset in a DynaFlange scene I'll call up for a solo on a Zappa tune).

You can build a quick cut-off in to your FM9 presets with a switch to shunt the VP4 out of the path quickly as well which can help as you're getting used to using it.

But it's easier, for me, to take out live than my AFIII + FC12.

I didn’t realize it was separate editors, but that makes sense.

Are you using midi for the preset and/or scene change synching between them or do they have their own way of facilitating that?

So was watching Cooper Carters video on his Rosanna patch from Luke
and wow Is there that much difference in CPU HP from and AXE FXIII to a FM-9

Same patch and settings on my FM9

Just downloaded that preset......he must have a turbo.....it's at 50% on my Mark I.

it would be useful to have a get info feature per block to see how much CPU one device is using
I think the QC has this feature

I only have a lowly MKI FM9, but processing power has never been an issue for me. The Followers and Channels features eliminate the need for what would be extra blocks/footswicthes on any other unit.
Same not ever been an issue was just stunned to se the difference in CPU HP

Setup...Utilities...Reset. Blow it all away

Right. I thought global EQ at first but the the way the amps were responding was a dead giveaway to the suspect input.

Congrats to the new Fractal Users! Super stoked for ya!! :cheers :banana

Can't wait to get home! It'll just be me and the boy. I'll have him plug in his LP copy and we'll hopefully have a blast in full descovery mode.

Love it! Super stoked for ya, Doc! :beer

Have you gotten the FW updated?? 18 is a lifetime or 3 ago.

Jury is split, but for me Fractal Factory Presets are totally worth a re-load and deep dive.
They give you a lot of places to jump off from. Pretty sure there is a reworked batch
that just came out of the Oven recently. :idk
They are and they are fracking awesome !!!

They just did a total revamp of the factory presets to catch them up with the latest firmware, now would be the perfect time to nuke everything and load the new ones.
