Fender Tonemaster Pro?

They release a lot of new content twice a year. It's not going to catch up to 20 years of Fractal development in two years.

They'll never catch Fractal, but I don't really think that is a big deal as they are targeting a completely different group of people. As noted above, it's a great unit for people who typically would never get into modeling otherwise. The sounds are very good, the build quality is solid, and it's very easy to navigate.

The biggest downside to the TMP is they priced it right alongside the FM9 and Helix, and that invited comparisons to those units...

But only a few amps, often including minor variations on amps they already had.

I think it's a good piece of gear. I don't think the people who don't care for it (like me) are unreasonable. They just have their preferences.

Exactly, different strokes for different folks. Although, I may be an outlier, as I have both units. As I have said previously, I do tend to favor the TMP slightly, because it is such a joy to mess around with the effects blocks, amps, cabs and microphones...locally, on the unit itself. No need for a PC-Editor. It really is so cool that the TMP's UI behaves like a one-to-one correspondence to a traditional guitar pedalboard connected to an amp/cab system.

I also appreciate the graphical representation of the cabinets and microphone(s) and the ability to move the mics in real-time, to radically change your tone. I have found ZERO NEED for 3rd-party IRs.

With all that said, the Fractal FM9T is equally amazing, in a different way.

Bottom line, if you can swing it...WHY NOT BOTH ?? :rawk :love

But seriously, if one is relatively new to the amp modeling/effects world, are not overly motivated by the deep editing and deep signal routing capabilities that are available on the Fractal, I think you would be very happy with the Fender TMP.
