When I was just out of HS, I had a bass player in an early band who like me, was also a huge Rush fan. But the other guys in that band weren't, but he tells me he has a school buddy drummer, with a really big, Neil Peart-like drum kit, who's also a big Rush fan, and lives on a big farm where we could jam, and do nothing but Rush songs. Yeah!! Count me in!You need to do Rush tunes. Hell, everyone needs to do Rush tunes, and only RUSH tunes!!
So we get together and work up all these Rush songs, w/o even a singer (cuz that was always the hard part with Rush), and have a blast! As a bonus, his older brother also played guitar, had no interest in what we were doing, but was eager to let me use all his pedals! I'm in heaven!
They both go to a private HS (graduating class of about 50), and they have this talent show/assembly thing coming up, and we decide to play for it, no singer, only Rush songs and all! And it went over great!!
Very fond memory!
