Dimehead NAM Player

That's called an extended feedback and you guyz'n'girls are discussing . I can't finance them cause they are banned me :)
So yesterday i financed Boss for GT-1000 Core while there are no another good "nam player" solution on the market. Also how can i buy something when
"descriptions included in catalogues or on the vendor’s websites are not to be equated with either a promise or a guarantee" ? I buy a popcorn machine which suppose to produce 2kg and it deliver just 1.5 max :ROFLMAO: :ROFLMAO:
Or.. GT-1000 have 32bit/96kHz DAC in specs on a "vendor's website" but in fact it's... 16bit/22kHz ?) Lol no, i can't imagine that.
Also you're asking me to pay these people - okay good start, but they must complete their homework before. No homework - no chocolate, for kids. No work - no money for adults.

Whats the definition of the product for you? For me:
  • before the sale
  • the item as is
  • after the sale
  • software/hardware accessories
  • extra services
  • EOL support
Lets imagine you're selling hardware & software like Dimehead folks. Your ideas will inspire other folks like Dimehead folks got an inspiration in someone else ideas. There are no 100500 ways to draw a cirle. There are no 100500 ways to play the music :)
People just change a bit at here and here and here and new device or song is here. You see literally the same solution/riff but different way.

Kemper ask money for upgrades. Sick! NSDP ask money for proprietary "nams" & IRs and use cloud for. Sick! But compared w/ this nam player their websites and manuals have much more detailed specs. I even don't speak about TOS.

Do you drive a car? Do you ask all of these questions about the car that you drive?

Do you want to know the combustion recipe, cylinder-head CFD studies, throttle tip-in calibration values etc. etc. from the manufacturer? Good luck with that.

The manufacturer publishes what is government mandated and whatever they like. Dimehead has that prerogative as well.

Why is Kemper 'sick' for asking money for upgrades? Do you have an internet service? Is there not an upgraded package with higher speeds available at higher cost?

What's wrong with that? They're a business trying to sell a product and make money. If you don't like, don't buy and move on. The market will decide whether their strategy works in the long run.

Talking about reverb... What reverb IRs are the best on the market for the NAM Player?
Best?

This question really is very dependent on your own preferences.
Reverbs are massively subjective to taste in the same way NAM models and Cab IRs too.

There are plenty of free and paid options to go through by a simple search online, but you may also (just like with NAM models) prefer to make your own custom made IRs.

I make my own usually, as that's way more fun for me.
Ymmv.

I agree with you about cabs, but with some help you can find truly gems. I'm new on the reverb IRs "world" so I need some help.

French laws require specs. Maybe german also.

yes.

Either calm down your disruptive, obsessive and annoying bullshit in this thread; or else we'll be asking you to leave.
The only bullshit is banning clients after the clients are asking the right questions. I don't have bullshit here. You can take a walk from a page 14 to this page and simply check the topic.
That's a device without any correct specs that customers should to ask directly from seller. You don't find wrong? I do.
Also when you do the job (as i do my job), i will do it well. I will not put "2048" IRs into "4096" device without the reason. I want to know this reason from Dimehead. They don't want to asnwer me so they are banned me. You want to ban me as they did?

"I haven't paid nam player cause they are banned me :) I want the devs make clear the situation i faced w/ their firmware."

You say you haven't got a NAM player.
So, where in this do you have any status as a client?

This is spoiling the discussion of this device, tbh. The question has been repeatedly been answered by Dom, who's at least working with or in contact with Dimehead, with detail. Ships with 2048, can do 4096 after update. Done.

On the plus side, I'm actually now interested in this device more so. I will fight the urge to be pedantic and insufferable with the company, however.

Yep, agreed.

Just to mention:

I'm a keen guitar tech and NAM enthusiast, I love other products across the industry just as well too.
I don't have many biases, currently very tempted by products from other companies too such as the Vp4.
If I could afford them, I really would have nearly all the different toys most often mentioned in these forums.

So, for my sins - I do volunteer my time to help out across most of the main parts / areas / eco-system-of-sorts... related to NAM.
It's a strange position to be in, but I like to do it because I feel someone has to, or else it becomes chaos.

If you want to know anything, feel free to ask and I'll do my best to help or signpost to information that will help.

Hmm, it'd be cool if they get a US distributor. @Dom Mcsweeney, do you know if their intention is to stay direct-only?

That much I don't know - but it would be cool.
I really do hope they become a little more recognised, it is very early days.

FWIW - it currently takes about a week to 10 days for delivery to mainland US from what I've heard, although I realise it would be nicer to be able to demo it first in a store.

If you did end up going for it, they will look after you if you need help with anything.

=)

Also, I don't think Fractal even got distribution until very recently directly in the UK - it had to be ordered from mainland Europe prior to that, and... I'm sure that was something that got organised a fair bit after Fractal first put out their early models.

Like most small outfits, direct is probably best at first until there is a solid structure in place for mass production etc.

I do know that TGF is *really* reluctant to ban anyone - but given this person is clearly just "spam-bagging" for zero legitimate reason - and repeatedly and repeatedly - cant we make an exception just this one time ?

Nah, he'll get the hint eventually that everyone thinks he's a fucking moron that can't get it through his thick skull that you merely need to load your own 4096 IRs.

In other news, I'm really excited because I'm going to soon be receiving one of the latest batch NAM Players.
I put in an order yesterday and should be getting it soooooon, depending on post times from Europe>UK etc.

Really looking forward to testing out the fx loop function and making even more silly noises than before. =)
I might even put older NAM player in the fx loop of new NAM player. I wonder if that's ever been done yet?

Maybe on that unit in the fx loop, I'll just make a preset with only a Cab IR lol... (considering the fx loop can be put into any part of the chain)

What pray tell, will the sample size be? ;)

but seriously, I like how they've got the loop on there, as opposed to the ToneX and Neural Nano which don't. It's a little inconvenient with needing a TRS split out, but not at all the end of the world. It certainly makes the device more versatile.

haha.... I can't even think what to reply to that.
Maybe IRs should all now be measured using the 'banana for size' scale, instead.

yeah, it's a new one for me but definitely a cool option indeed
