Digital Igloo (Eric Klein, YGG)

I've answered this before, but the gist is that we've looked very closely at it and understand both the theory and the math. I will say we have zero plans to give up on proper component-level modeling, however.

The thing with NAM is that it's not particularly scalable. Other methodologies like what're found in IK and QC tend to work better in embedded, non-desktop environments.

It wasn't so much Kemper's patent that's kept Line 6 from pursuing profiling as us having respect for Christoph. And not wanting to be copycat douchebags.

Interesting word choices.

So you're saying maybe ... something like a capture. :-)

@Digital Igloo you guys at Line6 watching how all this [Tone Master Pro thread] is goin’ down.
Didn't want you to think I was ignoring this, but I'll have to post it here because...

...Jason Stillwell is a good friend who I've known since my retail days in Tucson. In fact, he was the one who offered me the product pitch meeting with Marcus back in 2010—which turned into three product pitch meetings, which turned into job interviews. Had I not worn that Swervedriver t-shirt that one day at Rainbow Guitars, I wouldn't have met Jason and my life would've been very different. Y'all certainly wouldn't be reading this now.

Yes, I also find it incredibly bizarre and surreal that the Product Managers for Helix and Tone Master Pro have been friends for ~25 years.

When TMP first leaked, we were convinced it was all Max. As soon as I suspected Jason might be the PM (he kept it very secret), I took down the "Line 6—Designing Every Modeler Since 2015" meme in the TMP thread at TOP. Love that guy, and owe him (and Marcus) my career.

Jeez, you could have at least thrown him a bone and had him do a TOP search on “Helix squirrel” just to give him a little idea of what he might have to endure moving forward…

Good thing Helix is squirrel-proof these days:

Stilwel has been on that other forum forever. Pretty sure he's seen all the squirrel stories unfold in real time over the years.

We can't add boosts to existing amps as they'd add DSP and users would run the risk of breaking prpresets.
Can you give some insight on the used boost? Is it a Screamer type or more of a Klonlike? It's a 1 poti thing, so is it just adding Gain and the Tone/Level is baked in or do the Tone/Level go up as well?

Really like the Catalyst boost function and want to know more about it.

I came across a video from Line6 that explains all boost functions of the new original amp models.

Amp model
Boost
Clarityadds a tube stage with gentle clipping before the amp model
Aristocratadds a boutique boost pedal (Kinky Boost) before the amp
Carillonadds a vintage-style treble booster (Deranged Master) before the amp
Voltageadds an extra tube gain stage
Kineticadds gain and EQ modifications to simulate classic amp mods
Oblivionadds a classic OD (Stupor OD) before the amp

@holoholo beat me to the punch.

The story's not particularly sexy. We asked whether the Catalyst amps' boosts could be included, Brandon sent us the DSP usage, and we said "cool, let's do it."

Did you… show him your bullet points on flat sliders vs. skeu knobs? :p

Does the Voltage amp's boost invert the phase by design/necessity? I had originally footswitch assigned it with a 0 min 3 max, but the phase inversion was something I didn't want to deal with. It's still my number one amp, though I might take a second look at the 2203.

First I've heard of this. Will ask Ben.

EDIT: Ben's confirmed. Fixing now for 3.71...

One more question if you don't mind! I keep my presets in Git so I can keep track of my changes. When I use the knobs on the Helix, I might set a level to 3.0, but in the hlx file the actual value might end up being 2.987 due to the ballistics. In terms of precision, is a value 2.987 sonically different than 3.000 once loaded in as a preset? Thanks!

Should be totally fine. Certainly not audible.
