Did you pre-order the Helix Stadium?

I didn't pre-order. But I certainly thought about it!

I would have gone for the straight up, smaller Stadium.

Built-in expression pedals: No Bueno! 🙅‍♂️

I've thought about it but the smart money is wait and see. Is Stadium on day one going to be night and day better than everything else? I'm not sure about that. Especially if they only have a dozen amps ported and the ones you want to use aren't on that list.

Now if they have way more amps completed and have new effects or overhauled/upgraded fidelity of current ones, that may be a different deal...

I can't recall, are they doing anything different with the cab engine?

Can't justify it at the moment. Waiting and seeing whether it launches with stuff that pushes me over the VDI dongle hurdle. Then it'll be a question of do I replace both my Floors or just one.

Nah. Didn't pre-order. Helix amps just sounds plastic to me so I would really want to check the new ones to see if there is a vast improvement.

I took a career break at the end of January. I'm pre-ordering the Stadium as soon as I've chosen my next job.

I already have an FM9 and a TMP, but I've long said if Line6 made a great product with full size interface and no expression pedal, I'd try it.

How do you like the TMP vs the FM9?

To me, the FM9 sounds noticeably better. Some are of the opinion that Fender has gotten close, and a few models are especially good, but I don't think it hangs with the FM9. And the effects on the FM9 are much better overall to my ear, though the TMP reverbs are quite good. I especially like the TMP amps that have the reverb and trem controls included in the amp, like the corresponding amp would have.

The TMP on-unit interface and controls are great. It's very much a "never read the manual" kind of product. I find the TMP most useful for taking the place of some amps for practice purposes. Plug in, dial in for the guitar and the idea, maybe throw in a dirt pedal (I just use a real one, as it takes them in the front very well), and play. The amp selection is spare and includes at least a couple of poor choices. Some don't care, but I find that to be a glaring shortcoming for a product that's nearly two years old and marketed (and priced) as a competitor to top tier modelers.

I prefer working in the FM9 editor over the TMP editor (which is very much like the on-unit interface, just on a computer), and I would never make a complex preset or set of scenes on the unit anyway. The TMP's scenes functionality is not as mature as either Line6 or Fractal, in large part because they didn't decide to add it until something like a year after release.

I got the TMP out of curiosity and as an "easy" modeler. And that's what it is. It doesn't lead on sound quality or range. At the current development pace, they're not catching up, instead probably falling further behind the established two (Fractal and Line6). Some amps are probably better than corresponding amps on the Helx, but of course that was a long in the tooth product, and the Stadium models and Agoura will be their new standard.

IMO, the TMP doesn't have a distinctive sonic or functional value add territory, something that it does that the other modelers don't, or something that it does remarkably better. They didn't focus on absolutely crushing it in terms of selection and quality of their own brand's products and history, which will always seem utterly weird to me. It's all about the interface.

Had the regular Stadium in the cart with the promo code loaded teetering on the edge of completing the transaction. And then the code stopped working. So now I'll wait.
Wonder why the code stopped working maybe they were losing too much money because everyone was pre-ordering?

I wasn’t aware of that but good to know.

Your post made me go look up the dimensions because I see a fair amount of people holding out for the stomp - and yeah, the Stadium is a 16 inch pedalboard. Not gonna work if you’re used to the stomp.

Probably my only regret with Helix is starting with the HXFX and not the stomp.

Anyway, I imagine L6 is SPRINTING to get a new version of the stomp out the door, though I’d bet my house people are going to lose their shit over the price.

(They’ll still buy it, because it’s probably awesome.)
I’ll bet it’s $999.
