Did JNC just get PWNED by JHS???

I don't remember who was the first one to buy a load of Chinese pedals, paint them, become a huge booteek hit on TGP then burn out in a sea of accusations, cease and desists and finally some hard evidence of their bullshittery when the goop was removed.

Ken at Freekish Blues or Mason? Shady pair of bastards. It did all make for some wonderful threads though.

Edit- Actually I just remembered that Ken was at least lightly modding some of the joyos he was selling. Unlike Mason who thinks a custom wound inductor is the same thing as changing the rubber tread and the label on the Chinese pedal brands product he's just bought.

The only thing goop does is tell the world your pedal has something to hide and that something is not a original circuit.

Shits wild…. 10+ years ago I was following hovercraft devices, who was very open about taking those 20 watt jet cities and modding to doom tone machines , but I feel like even he came under fire later on for some questionable shit… what that may have been I don’t remember tbh but I don’t think hovercraft is around anymore lol

This man is just playing jokes on us now.

My hot take that no one asked for:

JNC's videos are 50% clickbait nonsense (which the JHS pedal video falls under), 25% Great Value brand Eric Johnson licks that somehow end up sounding nearly indistinguishable whether he's playing through a genuine Two Rock head or a Cameron CCV amp model, and 25% interesting content with gear demos and FAS preset builds.

I can hardly blame the guy for turning out videos like that. If I could attract 130k+ subscribers with the same low effort content I would probably do it too. The free gear / add revenue / paid demo deals that come with that achievement would be sufficient motivation.

He seems like a nice guy and I do like some of his content. I just ignore the clickbait videos and skip past the legato abuse that occurs during the first 2 minutes of the others.

In the end, everything is clickbait. Some are just a bit better at it than others.
