Did JNC just get PWNED by JHS???

IMO, John’s video was rhetorical and was meant to get a conversation going in the comments, as most of his videos are. Sure, he might have been a little ignorant to what is involved with manufacturing pedals, but I wouldn’t say he was “pwned.”

The tribalism runs deep with the JHS fanboys. But I see this as a win win for both John and JHS. More views, new subscribers, and apparently a new relationship between the two.

P.S. The 2000’s called and they want the term “pwned” back. 😂 😉

I don't know how much money they are making, their overhead, marketing, or anything else.

I do know that these are primitive circuits and could be manufactured overseas for a few bucks. Why has the boutique pedal industry been able to keep manufacturing these simple devices stateside, while every other industry has been forced to use chinese labor to compete?

I dont think anyone can undertake a boutique pedal building operation without an existing safety net. Its not about how much they make. They could lose money and keep making those goofy videoes. Its the same reason they are unconcerned about clones. Even if jhs is making only $2 a pedal, it doesnt matter. He will keep doing it and pretending the cost of things matter.

Not a huge JNC fan tbh; I mean... he sounds like Gareth from the Office for a start. But also, just not into his playing, find his tones pretty banal, and overall his opinions are clickbaitier than a shark with a bunch of 90's keyboards glued to it.

good player but like yourself not into his tone as such but each to their own.
But his jumping on subjects which he then mangles is very annoying.

What's wrong with wanting to build something outside of China? Or employing local people to make something where you're based? Sure you can make anything for a few bucks in China but not everyone wants that.

Of course it matters, he employs people. JHS is a business, he's not a one man band operating out of his spare room. If they don't make money they close and 30-40 people end up unemployed.

I found some of John's videos quite helpful when I first got my HX Stomp and subscribed to help a small UK channel. I ended up unsubscribing though due to the sheer volume of clickbaity nonsense and endless Eric Johnson style noodling. The only videos I've watched recently were some of his fractal ones like the VP4.

Love Cordy but the Truefire overload is real. I feel like he needs to sent to grimy death metal boot camp for about 6months and work some of that "turn everything into an EJ solo"out of his system :ROFLMAO:

JHS Josh is cool. His pedals otoh; to me are boring af and remaking the Ross stuff is boring3

Run into a restaurant and start analysing the ingredients of each meal and then pose a completely good-faith-honest-guv question about whether the meals are overpriced....

I've got a very dim view of JNC over this, the more I think about it.

Absolutely. It'd be nice a get a bit more variety out of JNC.

Agree on Jhs too, they just don't make anything that excites me. To be fair I build most of my pedals and unless they make something I can't build myself I'm never going to buy one. The Ross stuff bored the crap out of me too but the Enclosures were kind of cool looking. I like it when you see a pedal which hasn't been built in the usual 1590b, 125b, 1590bb Enclosures that everyone (including me) uses.

I get frustrated everytime someone comes out with the tired old "there's like £8 worth of components in there so all pedals are over priced rubbish"

I had someone on another forum ask me to build a pedal for them because he liked the look of mine and genuinely thought it wouldn't cost more than £50. I can build ME a decent pedal for under £50 but that doesn't include the time it takes me to

- Make a drill template
- Design the graphics
- Drill the enclosure
- finish the enclosure
- Populate the pcb
- Wire it up inside the enclosure
- Final assembly
- Testing and biasing (if it needs it)

I only watched Josh’s reply to Cordy’s vid so far, but I get the idea Cordy was a bit intentionally obtuse with his line of questioning/reasoning hoping for the exact thing to happen; getting his vid in front of JHS viewers. He’s intelligent enough that I don’t believe all his opinions were really genuine in that, just a bit of tappin’ the Flander’s nest enough to get a response from Josh Flanders himself.

Cordy is a victim of doing daily videos. You have no choice but to clickbait or do the same old shit:
  • I love amps
  • I hate amps
  • Is this the best pedal ever?
  • I love modelers
  • I hate modelers
  • That was not the best pedal ever
  • I love hybrid rigs
  • I hate hybrid rigs
Like, dude, it’s been 10 days. :ROFLMAO:

I don’t click on any of his topical stuff anymore, and just wait until he has a demo I’m interested in.
