Dear Nux:

The Bumblebee?

I want that thing in SW - small but wider so it fits exactly 6 Strymons on it. It's frustratingly close to the right size but the bottom tier won't fit 'em.
I was chatting with a trusted advisor trying to find a tiered board then just decided to make my Nux work with some ugly hangover. I did get my Trutone CS12 on it and out of the way so I'm generally pleased with that outcome?

I slapped all my Strymons on the Bumblebee L and they just barely fit with the Turbo Tuner and Flint slightly hanging off the edges of the 2nd tier.

Will probably put the El Cap somewhere else. I was thinking of "before amp" vs "after amp" delay but honestly I just like working with the Volante in the fx loop.

I’m off topicing this thread a bit but I’m looking at some quick mount modular pedalboard solutions. Velcro works but it would be more elegant to just get a pedal, somehow get it onto a pedalboard and have it locked in place. I can think of many solutions to do this but generally they all have drawbacks so I’m in the process of finding something with the least drawbacks involved

If there’s a solution out there that does this already I’d love to see some examples.

The current thing I’m thinking of is just building small snap on frames that can dock into a pedalboard or something. The obvious drawback here is you need specific sizes for everything. I’ve done some testing and these frames work well enough, but if there’s a better approach I could also try that out.

Temple Audio creates lock on patches for their boards. Come in S/M/L. Adds up quick though in terms of $$$$

Hmm if I was going to stick stuff on the back of a pedal then Velcro works just as well, it definitely has some merit.

The snap on plates I’m using while tinkering just come off and on with no adhesion they’re just sized right… the obvious downside is they’re one pedal one plate not like a baseplate you can take off and interchange. Much to think about

Yeah I used them for a minute. They are.....fine. The goo that gets on your pedal if you do remove the plate is pretty stubborn

I love my Temple board but I just use good old fashioned velcro. There was another company that used locking brackets (?) but they were proprietary and specific to their board. I can't remember who it was.

There's a few systems I've seen:
  • Good old velcro.
  • The superior 3M Dual Lock.
  • Temple Audio's stick on plates. IMO no better than using Dual Lock.
  • Aclam's rails with lockable pieces that kinda squeeze the sides of the pedal so you don't have to put anything on the pedal itself, but the system is a poor match for pedals with top jacks as you can't put them right next to each other.
IMO Dual Lock is the way because once it's on the pedal, you can put it on any board. Cheap, doesn't leave residue etc.

Acclaim locks are what I was trying to think of (y)
