I Like Big Boosts and I Cannot Lie.

I tried a Caitlinbread Epoch Bias. Beautiful pedal and if you are looking for that EP-3 sound it probably has you covered and with the additional bias and high frequency knob it’s very adjustable to taste.

Unfortunately, part of that signature sound involves a “slight” high frequency roll-off even with the HF knob wide open, which is a shame because the Bias adds some cool body and shape. Aside from that, I’d be all over it. But I’ve worked too hard to tune my harmonica and high frequency content to be detailed and precise. I’m not willing to sacrifice that in the least. It’s going back. I have an EP-3 mode on my ZIO if I need it. ZIO is a sweet pedal I don’t hear talked about enough. Super handsome and highly functional analog front end polisher and boost.
I want to try it in front of t I’d a modeler soon.

Next up the Spaceman Harmonic Booster. It’s either going to be glorious or horrible I expect. We’ll see.

Ciao, Jason
Looking forward to hearing what you think of the Spaceman Saturn VI.

Does it live up to it’s name?
Ive got some good out of it. Still need to be more thorough. I had a bad PI tube in the Origin 50 I was using so it cut my tuning short. Its running fine now but family stuff has kept me busy.

Today was the first day i could let loose in the jam room for a week and a half. I had to hit the 2203x and 5150. Lol Hopefully tomorrow after some morning stuff I'll get back to the pedal. I did get some tone and feels from it. More to tweak though.

I keep thinking about buying another boost, but then I wonder if any of them will give me anything I can’t already get by using a GE-7?

I’m very curious about the Benson germanium boost. I’ve heard it does some nice things to the signal

I can say without a doubt that boosts can offer more tonal options. Whether they are useful or desirable to you isn’t something I can answer. But this has been an eye opener for me! Kind of like burning through speakers or pickups to find the ones that are your own personal sweet spot.

Boost lovers: AMIRITE?

Since I can sculpt the EQ pretty much however I want with the GE-7 it would have to be something that offers more than just a gain boost and some EQ. Something that has some other magic going on that it does to the signal

So I’m using it with the Origin 50H, into 2 112 cabs loaded with Alnico golds. I’m attenuating a bit with my PS-2A. So amp volume/gain both about 1pm. Charvel with a JB in bridge.

It’s a warm pedal and the Ori can get bloaty(JTM)so I adjust EQ already to minimize most of it. Some of it plays into soloing and I like it.

Here is the settings I ended up with for now. Volume roll off at guitar is giving great in between tones. Some I’m really digging. The pedal has its own sounds. Took me awhile to get it good with the Origin. I’ll try it with the 2203x next. A toppy amp.

The Yellow Diamond Comp/EQ is just so versatile as a boost. Sounds great too. I added it to the front of this chain for the finishing touch.

Screw using the Saturn VI with the Origin. This ones in front of the 2203x.

The only pedal I've really liked in front of the 2203 is the 228 pre. After some tweaking with the Saturn for a few sessions, the sweet spot came. Riding guitar volume is beautiful thang with an amp like the 2203. Midgain delight. Hard rock ass kicker. Lovely.

So a Mr Scary in V2, GE early 50's AT7 in the PI(just got), 228 pre/Saturn VI into a 412 of Heritage 65's throttled by a Charvel Chameleon...I reeree happy. Both pedals change the vibe and tone although not the quintessential Marshall sound. Which is a Glorious rock machine. I need it.😁

That 228 Pre looks really interesting to me!

Its best attribute is staying open and clear without fizz/flub. Gets a great 70's OD sound too. Nothing modern or high gain. Its mid shift knob is good for tuning any flub or mud away. Its all about clarity.

The 228 doesn't have to do much in front of the 2203. It makes the amp a bit more lively. Opens it up to be more vocal and sing.

The Saturn V6 does get fizzy on top or bloaty on the bottom in comparison. With it there is a bit of hair but it is really clear too when dialed right. Especially backing guitar volume down. I actually like it being apart from the 228 with the added hair. Great rock tone with as much rude as I want added in.lol
