Honestly, the sole reason this might work is that the market for bass-specific multi FX is minuscule.

Darkglass has ambitious plans for the Anagram, but it's no clear why third party vendors would chose someone else's platform to port their plugins - and give Darkglass a cut of each sale in the process.

Some companies may not have the $$ to burn on R&D for a hardware unit but might have a decent user-base who could grab the Anagram and play those plugins - just one use case I see. Companies like Aurora DSP, Polychrome DSP, ML Sound Lab, Bogren Digital, Softube, STL, Scuffham etc. could all be good candidates for this sort of stuff.

Nice & congratulations! How does the build quality feel?

If you have some time to check, how does the pitch shifting work? Does it track well? Does it warble / artifact much going down vs going up 1 or 2 semitones?

If you have some time to check, how does the pitch shifting work? Does it track well? Does it warble / artifact much going down vs going up 1 or 2 semitones?

Device feels sturdy, boots up in 5-6 seconds, UI is responsive to touch and physical controls. Navigation is straightforward.

Will get a chance to goof around with sounds in a few hours.

An amp's tonestack comes after the pre-amp, which is the primary source of non-linearity in the system. Whether EQ comes before or after a cab IR makes no difference.

If you *really* care about the esoterics of the EQ of a particular amp's tonestack, that can be handled (a la Kemper liquid profiling), but increasingly most users probably won't care and would rather have a consistent EQ that works the same way across amps.

Also, what you are saying is true for high gain amps, but not all amps. Many older circuits (Fender black panel, among others) have EQ ahead of the preamp (and associated overdrive). AC30s and Bassmans (and some other Fenders) have them before the second gain stage. Lots of Orange amps have them ahead of the preamp, too. And so on.

But if you like captures, by all means use captures!

Not trying to invalidate what you like. I understand wanting to have the knobs work the same way they do on the real, physical box.

Just pointing out that I don't see tonestack EQ handling as an inherent limitation of capture/profiling technology. What Kemper is doing with liquid profiling isn't that complicated. I'm sure we'll see others do something similar if there is enough demand for it.

The tone stack is really important to an amp's sound. Even if it's placed after the preamp, it's always going to affect how the power amp responds. I don't see it as an issue with captures, though - just set the EQ the way you like and make a capture :)

That presumes I have the amps in question, which I don't. I agree captures work great as is for people who want a digital version of their amp collection - dialed in for a specific guitar (or multiple captures for multiple guitars). That's not my use case.

Fit and finish are great, device feels solid in the hand, and sturdy under foot. I didn't spend much time with the pitch shifter, but the sub octavers are excellent. Watch any review on the KAAMOS and you'll get an idea of how good they are. So far loving the chorus, mod delay, and reverb. Dirts do The Thing as expected. Overall it sounds really good.

There are a few things that need to be sorted out / fixed. I'd say it is giggable (giggity), but not yet battle hardened.

Any new / extra / additional Anagram stuff from D/Glass will -I guess- probably (?) be mostly free.

However 3rd Party Developer Plugins will -i.m.h.o- definitely be Paid-for DLC
