Darkglass Anagram - NAM profile player & multieffects unit

Ouch. Great day for bassists. Bad one for guitarists. That would have eaten quad cortex for sure. But maybe Darkglass can’t make any NDSP competing product, for some years at least

Leo's vid:

Pricing (per Leo): 1,000 EUR / 1,000 USD - tough pill to swallow.

To me, something feels not quite right here.

Leo has clearly had this for ages and his reputation is recently built on 2 things .... NAM null tests comparing to the NAM software and Latency tests .... and both these are missing from his review (?)

Darkglass are very clearly saying this is a Bass unit - I don't think Leo addresses this at all (?)

Zero mention by him if the EFX are all tuned for Bass - which D/Glass clearly says they are.

It seems to have 7 guitar amps but he bluntly dismisses them and the drive pedals saying they are not needed as you can just load a NAM drive and NAM Amp ... "static" Captures be they NAM or KPA etc... are great unit you start to move the knobs - especially the Gain Control ..... so now add a static drive Capture in front and ... well ... you get my drift.

When a manufacturer says its a specifically designed and dedicated Bass multi-efx unit - believe them.

Leo seems to totally ignore this and "PR-market-it" for guitar !!!!!

In short - its for our beloved basissts - good for them.

For NAM-Guitar players ..... its a f*cking ultra expensive box to run two three of NAM Captures.

I commend D/Glass on the clarity and honesty of launching this product and clearly stating what it s actually designed for.

Not that it matters a flying f*ck to anyone, but I've lost a lot of respect for Leo on this - he clearly knew what this box was, and was not.

He chose to tease it a certain way and his video doesn't even mention what and who it is actually designed for.

Rant over ... off to take my pills now :)

I think this video will answer and clear-up and show us a lot more of what it is for and what its not for. also, all the Y/T "Bass" Channels have all dumped their Y/T reviews already

I'm pretty sure he'll follow up with the NULL test comparisson this week. He probably had to have something a bit more generic for the reveal.

It's nice that it has a touchscreen too.

I'm not too hooked on the "it's only for basists" thing. I mean even the Dimehead NAM player can be for bassists or guitarists depending on what profiles/IRs you load etc. If it has drives, delay, reverb, chorus I mean... it ought to cover most needs?

^^ If the EFX are all tuned for Bass, that's not ideal ..... but yes, its early days :) and the deep dive video link above should make things much clearer.

So far ... from what I can see, all the Y/T video launch's are all Bass ... Leo's is the only one focusing on guitar ?

Kind of weird too that the manual doesn't list the actual Amps ... although the Bass Y/T demo's all list the Bass Amps ... no surprise there.

I wish it would have a second input given it can run 2 parallel chains..

Thomann page is up:

If they come out with a guitar one too, I will buy both and dump the Kemper Players I have. They're great but WOW this thing is cool!

Agree in that it looks cool. Very cool.

But for me... instant pass. 1k for a unit that needs more footswitches to be a true all-in-one is a no-go for me. My tastes are a little out of NAM pedals in general, though. While thinking NAM is a milestone in guitar tech, I still don´t see it as practical as propietary capturing devices like Kemper and QC. This personal point of view is just based in how my life is and what´s my free time disponibility, so nothing against NAM per se.

Damn. Yet another amp modeling multi fx unit for bass players. When will someone make a guitar focused multi fx unit?!

Seriously though, years of "bass really only needs a DI" and then a SINGLE FRIGGING BASS FOCUSED UNIT is released and guitarists can't stop complaining that it's not for them :rofl
I don’t see complaints, people are just stating it’s for a different instrument so the product doesn’t apply to us. Hopefully they sell a ton, go for it, just not something I’d ever look at as a guitarist.

You know what's really pissy though ..... this thread would not have even started had Leo not teased the release without the A.I voice-over mentioning nothing about it being a dedicated Bass unit - even though he absolutely would have %100 known it was a dedicated Bass unit* - the whole Y/T "influencer marketing" and click baiting [ ie: lying and misleading ] thing is such a nauseating feature of the M.I these days

* - yes, I know he would have agreed to -not- say that in order to "get the release video gig" ... but you cant "disclaimer protect" your credibility

Can't wait for all the armchair Guitarists to be like:
"wHy iS tHiS oNlY 4 bAsS pLaYeRs?"
Called it.

Seriously though, no one is lying here. Leo did what he wanted to do, he did a full mix with it.
He then explained it's also very good for guitar.
My only question left is:

How low is the latency?
