ordered a used ISP vector SL sub. picked it up yesterday all hyped after years of wanting to try one. box was all beat to shit. opened it up and the only thing inside packing material wise was the smallest amount of bubble wrap that might as well not even have been in there... totally useless.

picked it up to move it and something totally loose inside slides from one side and slams into the other. just a really bad noise that you don't want to hear in a piece of gear. i didnt take the time to open it up but its probably the internal amp that broke free from ups dropping it.

bringing it back today either for a return or to see if they wanna try to fix it. bummed. we have a show on sat and i wanted to use it. seriously on what planet was someone like yeah a small handful of bubblewrap inside this box will protect this huge 90 lb sub while it gets shipped across the country???

Yeah I have to really scrutinize their used gear. So many times things are clearly mislabeled.

Locally there was a Boss GT-1000 Core that was available but listed as a GT-1000 and selling for $699 used. I asked about it in the store and they're like "oh yeah that's how we bought it". Okay?

They have a pair of Adam T7V's that are listed as A7V's for $399. Cleary the pictures and price are correct but the product isn't.

Also annoying looking at Neumann monitors. There's the KH120A and the KH120 II that look the exact same from the front, and of course they don't have pictures of the back most of the time. But on the inside, one is old analog tech and the other has new amps and DSP.

Or the Bluguitar, the original version vs the Mercury that looks the same from the top...

Those ISP subs are fucking awesome though - other Tom had a couple when we were at his place for mini CO amp fest years ago, they were glorious :love:love:love
I bet they are awesome at home. But aren't you going to be stepping all over the bassist with a sub? If you don't have a bassist; I can see the low end fill up being cool. I haven't played Drop B Dad Death for a few years and I kinda miss it  :satan

just got back from dropping it off. they said they dont have a repair dept so the only option was a full refund. they said they might list it for way less as non functioning. dang.

That's a bummer, amazingly I bought a Syn2 from them last week and it was packed really well and they taped everything so it wouldn't shift in the box either. I don't recall which GC it was but props to whoever did that packaging. ( I checked UPS tracking and said the first update on it was Watertown CT)

ISP is bringing these back, making them new again iirc. Also no, you won't interfere with the bass frequencies. Get one, they're awesome. Just not fun to lug around.

Also, it seems too late as you've returned it but depending on what's wrong with it....ISP has the most amazing customer service imaginable. I had a similar issue and ISP sold me the internal board directly for cheap and a local tech fixed it up. Assuming that's what fell out but who knows what it was.

its not like it drops your signal an octave or anything so you wouldn't be in the same sonic zone as your bassist. arent they like 1700 brand new?? i cant swing that hahaha. im waiting for them to post it for sale it as non functioning, probably will offer them like 100-200 for it. i'm pretty sure the amp tech i found in jackson can fix it, he said he works on just about anything.

and yah i wasn't expecting it to be so heavy lol but maybe i'd switch to a 2x12 with it. HC shows are lot cooler than metal shows imo, lots of times we just backline guitar and bass cabs and drum shells so we aren't bringing all our gear to shows which is nice.

I've had two broken Boogies show up like that. No packing, just an amp in a box. Express miraculously worked, but I returned it out of spite. Stiletto had broken transformer mounts and shattered tubes.

Likely the internal toroidal transformer that broke loose from inside the cabinet.

I have a REL sub that was shipped in about the same boxing from e-Bay. As soon as it was delivered to the porch I was taking pictures before even touching it. The seller actually used a hand towel as well. Got a full refund, and I was able to fix the bolt holes that broke out of the cabinet (Wood Expoxy). I have no idea how the mosfets, IC's, diodes and capacitors aren't disintegrated on the amp board from getting slammed by the transformer. I'm tracing the issue by testing each component because it powers up, but no output - total PITA.

There was a Steve Lukather Sub in one of the GR Guitar Centers back a few months ago. I was intrigued.

(Edit: Is that the one you purchased?) :idk
