Same could be said of Status Quo. Huge in England, but never quite broke through the American market.
And for many others. But Slayer were part of a Big 4 of Thrash (not all metal), so I thought I'd have some fun about a Big 4 of London New Romantics alongside CC.

Status Quo??!?!? Michael Jackson?!? Nothing at all to do with the New Romantic scene in the early 80's of CC, Visage etc.

London is/was a much different scene, and a completely different market. Most of what I have been talking about is obviously the much bigger American market, but particularly MTV.

Obviously. But the discussion had drifted to the Big 4 of Thrash so I chimed in with a jokey question about the Big 4 of New Romantics.

Note to self: Never opine on the Internet, even if you think your "joke" is so obvious no one could misinterpret it...

I got the basic gist of where you were going, but sometimes regional differences throw a wrench (spanner) in things.

I assumed it was a joke poll on TGF and our tastes. I should be ashamed of myself for recalling the New Romantics at all!

I sentence myself to play nothing but Metal this coming weekend.

I just never got into Slayer and all their image BS. Or Culture Club - or Wham! for that matter.

I'll take Stryper all day long! seriously, their material they put out the past 10 years is better than when they were popular in the 80's. Back then their albums had 2-3 good songs. These newer ones have 8/10 killer songs, who from the 80's has a 90% same line up and vocals are just as good if not better -None of the bands except Stryper!
