Chorii

Last Pigtronix pedal i tried was the Disnortion and that was rad, so i might have to try a Quantum

It's an epic sounding pedal but pretty different than a "standard" chorus since there is no true effect level/mix control.

If you're looking for real subtle chorus sounds the Quantum probably won't fit the bill

I've actually toyed with the idea of seeing if it would be possible to mod it with an added mix control but haven't done it yet.

Here's a lil iphone recording - this is pretty close to being as subtle as you can dial it in - pretty much only gets more seasick sounding from here

All of the Boss Chorus pedals are great. I really like the Dimension. The CE-2B bass chorus is great on guitar because it’s got a high pass filter so the low notes are not muddled with.

The yellow MXR Chorus pedals have always been very nice. They work surprisingly well in front of a dirty amp.

A Trichorus is sweet. But if you’re not running stereo it is less interesting.

The chorus you can dial in with one of the old 8/12-bit digital delays can be very fun. The Effectron did a great chorus and flange.

Then there’s the Symphonic chorus from the SPX-90.

I put a 3rd Dimension by TC Electronic in a Watch List at SW about 18 months ago based on some random YT video. It finally got stocked, (I thought it was discontinued based on how long it’s been out of stock) so I ordered it on a whim since it’s only $40. Fired it up this morning and it’s actually pretty decent. Definitely more or on the subtle side. Can hit those 80’s clean tones, and sounds pretty good under gain for those Zakk driven tones. I hate Dimension C control type, but I suppose that’s part of the charm.

The great thing about cheap pedals is they exceed expectations by just turning on. :ROFLMAO:

Pretty cool.

still love the old tri-stereo chorus. :)

Dear Leon---

What is the best analog chorus pedal to do the filthy 80s/No More Tears thing? Will the Dimension Waza do the trick?

Leon -

To add to ^^^^^, I've been enjoying the Dimension block in the VP4. How close is it to the Boss Dimension Waza pedal?

I'm using a Strymon Zelzah. It's a phaser, chorus and flanger in one, and it does a great job with all of them.

The only problem I have with it is that it doesn't like my BluGuitar amps unless used in the fx loop. Up front it will cause some sort of noise issue on some of the overdrive channels. BluGuitar has said this is a similar problem to what the HX Effects had before Line6 did something to fix it in hardware. Both manufacturers of course blame the other.

So atm it's in my fx loop, a bit weirdly as the last effect because I didn't have long enough TRS Y cables to my Temple Audio 4X mod.

Realistically though something as simple as a Dimension C might be what I truly like for chorus. Zero complication, just good sound.

If I were buying a chorus pedal today, it would be a Boss Dimension C. I've been underwhelmed with the CE-2W and the MXR Analog Chorus (which is technically the Zakk Wylde chorus).

These have been out of stock forever. I have the same thought process as you as far as "hey it's $40!" but then the "I might as well dive all the way in with the real thing!" kicks in

I've been hovering over the Amazon Add to Cart button for what seems like forever on this one :nails

The absolute best Chorus I’ve tried is in the ADA TFX4. But practically, in pedal form, the best is the Arion SCH-1. They were scorned when they were in production because they were $29. We didn’t know how good we had it.

DC-2w is great. TC SCF is very good too, although I've got an old one and not the new reissue.

Plus it's stereo, unlike the TC 3rd Dimension.
