Ooh, I've been looking at the original for quite some time.
A good treble booster to juice up classic amps is always useful.
My thought is, BOSS SD-1 was released in 1978, so a lot of 70s stuff before that was using a Rangemaster, ie. Deep Purple and Queen.

Interesting. I have the original (designed by the amazing Howard Gee, who left Catalinbread in 2017) and it's killer.
Has a cool midrange to it.
I use it for Iommi and Blackmore stuff:
