Can we talk about cheap pedals? I mean REALLY cheap.

Just that there's very little really decent EQ pedals out there.
That's the one pedal I should get. Analog that is.
I have an early generation Source Audio eq, and it's good, but it colors the signal just a bit more than I like, even at flat setting. The feel isn't quite there with me. Could be a conversion+latency thing. I'm sure an MXR or Boss would be just fine though.

I bought a Caline "Heavy Metul" for like 18 bucks I think. I bought it specifically because the pic of the pedal in the ad had the misspelled "metal". When it arrived, they had fixed the typo. Was disappoint.
Hahahaha, I have their "Reflector Tremelo" that I bought for the same reason (and because it reminds me of Twin Peaks), but in this case they didn't fix it. 😂

It's a run-of-the-mill tremolo and cost me 20€. Not bad. 🤷‍♂️

I even like it better than the EHX XO Pulsar that I sold on due to noise issues.

I've had a few cheap pedals - the Moore noise killer has been in my rig for at least 10 years now and has been perfect.

I also have the demonfx 33 clone which has been fineq, a mosky buffer which I think is a clone of a jhs little black buffer. My most recent one is a horizon precision drive clone from joyo - the Argos boost, which has been fantastic

It kicks ass.
It really does. It's a coin flip between the Argos and a 33 clone which I prefer, but both are great. The attack knob on the Argos makes it really versatile. The 33 just gets a tiny bit more crazy sounding.

Is the 33 a modified SD-1? I was looking at Wampler Triumph OD and/or possible clone which has an SD1 and Bad Monkey in it, but will have to test the Jumpspace first.

The 33 is based on the TC Electronic Integrated Preamplifier

I have 2 MXR 10 bands and a Donner EQ Seeker clone - indistinguishable on every amp Ive tried em on.

And, like Adam mentioned, the Noise Killer is a fantastic gate. Best one Ive ever owned and I paid $26 for it.

I’ve taken care of my EQ needs with a Danelectro Fish N Chips. Their series has held up for me: Tuna Melt Trem Chicken Salad Vibrato, and French Toast Octave Fuzz.

I’ve had the Behringer SF300 fuzz and UV300 vibrato since they came out. Those are probably the best cheapies that I have.

I like cheap Rats too. I have the Little Bear R.Attack and Eno-branded mini Rat. Different flavors to my Rat 2.

I will need to check out that Tube Zone clone one of these days. I’ve tried to curb my cheap pedal habit these days, but always wanted try a Tube Zone.

As 2dor said, it's a clone of the TC integrated pre with bass hardwired to 0 and treble hardwired to 10.

I think it might have more output too but don't quote me.

Does anyone make an SD-1 clone with an open top end?

I love the SD-1, it tightens the bass, but it also darkens the highest frequencies. I don't even think it is by design, but because of the buffer they use. Maybe if I get an impedance switcher and put it in front of the SD1 it would have the desired effect? Or maybe there is an SD-1 clone that has a better buffer or is brighter?

I'm on the hunt. All these cheap drive clones are letting me try out different things.

I've bought more than a couple of handfuls of pedals from Aliexpress. Caline, DemonFX, Pigtone and some other weird ones like re-rebranded clones of Mosky pedals. They all arrived, actually work and are dirt cheap. Most of these were sub 30€ but there are occasional 50-80€ pedals that are actually good quality imho.

I honestly don't care what anybody thinks about this. Is it ethical? Maybe not if it's a direct knockoff-clone like my DemonFX Dualgun, but is it ethical to ask 300 for a pedal that is pretty much a bunch of electronics on a PCB that sounds just like any other Tube Screamer? Not in my world. These are for personal use and for my own "easy GAS relief".

Some of these have found a permanent place on my pedalboard - the beforementioned Dualgun, Caline Pegasus and some MXR 10 EQ clone while some of these are in the bottom drawer with all the socks that have lost their pairs and underwear that doesn't fit me anymore (but I still keep in case I get slim one day :rofl).

Rock on I say, more GAS is power!

What price range is a new cheap pedal classed in These days ?
I think the cheapest good ones I have were around £12 to £13 each from the river a while back.
