Can the PodGo get the same tones as the Helix?

Does the pod go fit your format and budget needs? I’d think that would be more important than splitting hairs on what has a better plexi sound. The pod go probably doesn’t sound “as good” as a helix, but unless you’re willing to shell out helix money, who cares? Very little modeled gear sounds bad these days. If the pod go format and price are right for you, I’m sure you’ll find tones you can make work. I just spent 160 bucks on some little disposable NuX thing. Is it as good as my FM9? Of course not. The format and price fit a particular need.
My budget is Anderson guitars and Wizard amps. However I am in my 50's and trying to save to retire someday. Podgo would be a rehearsal and back up rig. :guiness

Being honest here even though some on the interwebs poo poo the MX5, it has some very good plexis in it, and a couple good jcm 800s. Much better than anything in the pod go and yes I owned a pod go and a helix for a long time.

Right around the same price. I think a hundred bucks cheaper. The treadle takes a little getting used to but I got used to it. I think it sounds fantastic but who am i?

Matter of fact I don't even have to think that hard the MX5 completely smokes the pod go and it's not even close.

Don't start pinching pennies now.

Seriously, I doubt you would be happy. You have those high standards to compare it to,
and it ain't going to live up to them. I don't like IK Multimedia as companyt, but I'd go
the Tone-X route if you want nice Plexi tones (and have your own amps to capture) than
a PodGo.

I hear ya. I can buy a stereo pair of dumbles, but I'd rather not with my retirement pending in 6 hopefully short months........

Just for rehearsal and backup, the POD Go should more than suit your needs. Of course, depending how much you're willing to compromise and how you view rehearsals. Me, I want to rehearse nearly as much as I want a kidney stone lasered out of my pisshole, but some people enjoy it. If you're that person and will be negatively affected by something that isn't maybe 15-20% betterer, factor your user experience into the decision, too.

Yeah I tried some of those samples or something similar and they did not sound great, but something like that is all I need for home use while rehearsing and learning new songs

There are TONS of outstanding videos for the PG by Richie Castellano (Blue Oyster Cult), Paul Hindmarsh & John Cordy.
Many players greatly under estimate the PG. This unit is still in production and is seriously under rated !!
It's light, affordable and makes a great backup...
