Bought my first Martin

I started guitar lessons this spring (never had any official lessons in 20 years), they ended up focusing on bluegrass guitar because of my interest in it. I found out that the countless hours of scale runs and three note per string practices I’ve put in really help out with flatpicking, and I’m officially obsessed with the genre. That’s why I threw steel strings on my classical - and it’s why I pulled the trigger on a Martin GPC-11E. I didn’t opt for a dreadnought because the army fucked up my right shoulder and the GPC is a more comfortable shape. It gets here tomorrow!

Yupp! Solid sapele back and sides too. Fretboard is richlite, some sort of composite material but I actually like it and it’s extremely stable, so there’s that.
Nice! Very similar specs to my Taylor. I love the tones of both Taylors & Martins, but the Taylor edged it out..., (12-15 years ago...)

I probably would have went Taylor if I wasn’t focusing on that bluegrass sound from the get go, and I really like a 1 3/4” nut for acoustic - the cheapest Taylor with that nut width was well over my budget lol

Love it! I'm a huge bluegrass fan and have played+sung in bg bands. Keep us posted!

Check out the Blake & Rice albums, if you haven't already (and pretty much any album with one of their names on it. :beer

I’m currently obsessed with Blake and Rice. That recording of Lost Indian is a daily play at least haha. I’ve learned Blackberry Blossom, and about 80% speed Lost Indian. Those along with Wildwood Flower are the only songs I know (so far, the list is growing)
