Boss SDE-3 delay dropped today

I really love the offset and mod controls on the SDE.

I sat down yesterday to do a comparison then thought "nah, I already did the DIG against the SDE-3000EVH".

Read this and then got to work comparing the SDE-3 and the DIG

I have almost bought the Dig a bunch of times. I kinda think a combo of DM-2W and SDE-3 would be awesome but the DD-3T sounds killer too.

Really I need to start collecting Boss pedals.

I’m justifying this one as a dedicated delay for the jazz chorus, so basically I’ve devolved into multiple delays per amp.

This pedal could be quite cool for mono use, ambient style. Parallel while in mono is quite nifty.

Hell yeah!

I was surprised how much I preferred the SDE3 doing the slight offset part. I also like the granular controls on the modulation. The fixed modulation in the Dig has always been my one gripe, albeit a small one since they are tuned tastefully.

The Dig sorta dominated from there though in sheer customization and vibe. The Dig set to golden ratio is pretty much undefeated for digital delay ambient vibe.

I think you’re right, we all deserve both.

I just realized something as I watch this vid on my couch; almost every time I sit in here and watch one of your vids, I make it halfway through before I end up with a guitar in my hands in my studio because the playing or the tones in the vid made me want to play. I certainly can’t say that about anything else I consume on youtube, guitar-related or not.

Also, my surround system is borderline turning the audio in this into a W/D/W rig, with the wets being my rear speakers and the ‘dry’ signal coming from the soundbar in front of me. Quite cool to sit in the middle of.

Swear to God the only reason I sold the original one I owned was because of the pink and how badly it stuck out.

Just a question for anyone who knows...is there anything like this in the dd-200.....or dd-500?

This does seem pretty cool for the compact size....also love that it has the hold.....

Pairing this with a sy1, and a tera echo, with the latching mods I've figured out for the hold, along with the remote pedal I plan on building......this could be amazing, especially in a WDW setup ...like I am planning.

I compared the DD500 "dual" mode against the EVH SDE3000 with similar settings. I thought the EVH sounded considerably better. But the 500 does a lot of other things and has a MUCH easier user interface.

It’s a Mt Rushmore delay pedal. I run it in stereo ping pong mode on the Jazz Chorus and get totally lost playing.

Finally got to play one of these yesterday. You know a pedal is good when you lose 45 minutes that felt like 5. SO GOOD. As a massive fan of "vintage digital" delays, particularly the SDE-3000, this pedal is stunning, IMO. I've owned both DIGs, and while they're amazing, the price difference here makes the DIG tough to justify, from a tonal quality standpoint.
