Don’t have high expectations for the amp modeling to sound exactly like whatever amp. The boss original models are hella fun to play through, IR loading sounds weird compared to other devices IMO (it’s quieter and less lows/low mids than stock cabs). Remember to HOLD on a block you want to edit instead of tapping. Took me awhile on the tap/hold thing because I want to tap to edit and hold to bypass but that’s not how it works.
If I was going for Zakk Wylde tones I’d probably go the X Ultra or the X Modded, crank the gain.Understood. ty for your input. Zakk Wylde during no rest for the wicked and no more tears album and EVH during the 5150 album are the 2 main sounds/tones I am trying to achieve.. I hope I am able to with this device.
Just arrived yesterday. Any tips or tricks to advise?

I would eat up a GX-1000 with as many freely configurable blocks as you can fit on the GT-1000 (not fixed like the GT) and like 4-5 more flavors or original amp models.Do the above and its a totally kick-arse unit - I still have hopes that one day Boss will release a new and even better next-gen GX-1000 with more and even better Original and X-Amps.

Pardon my ignorance but what is dual detune on the boss?Dual detune on the Boss stuff is one of the best things actually; so Zakk should be good in that regard.
I'm taking note to this.. I appreciate your feedback, however Zakk Wylde no rest for the wicked and no more tears sounds/tone and EVH 5150 album sounds/tones is what I am trying to achieve/chase.. wouldn't I need to mimic a marshall and 5150 Amps?- stick to the Boss Original and X-Amps
- don't even bother with the Legacy Models
- find and use a Stock AIRD Cab you like
- setup your Input level - absolutely critical
- be prepared to create tones that wont mimic a Marshall or 5150 etc.....
- the Amp Controls have massive ranges and don't work or respond anything like say a Helix or Axe ... so twist away and explore

Ty for your input!Forgot about the input level. Highly important.
And yeah, don’t treat the original amps like a real amp, get extreme the settings and see what sounds good.
Another tip (assuming the GX-10 and GX-100 work the same). The main output volume knob at noon is technically “unity” level where nothing is being boosted or cut. I found it pretty easy to get nasty clipping on the output going much higher than that with stock presets. For my use I just leave it at noon and adjust my levels further down the chain.
Instead o a chorus that uses a sine wave to create the detuning, a detune block give you a fixed detune that stays constant .Pardon my ignorance but what is dual detune on the boss?

It works, it just seems like some of the amp modeling is taking place in the factory cabs, so with IRs all of the low mids/lows sound weird. The IR loading is still fucked up? That’s too bad, especially since it seems to work well on the IR-2/200.
