BluGuitar Amp X

All things utility, yes, all things sound, no. In case they're really doing this consequently, there's no way to improve or add models or whatever.

Are you sure about that? I know nobody with an Amp 1 personally and I haven't ever seen one on stage. The only guy owing one (who already borrowed it to me for 2 days back then) has sold it quite a while ago already and also went for a QC and FR monitoring.
Seems like he might have friends that are wealthy from the vibe I get you know like trust fender or something like that that can find this project

This is one ugly looking unit - but it's going to be successful. Thomas has a great ear for tone and it looks like he's finally got the software needed to make his vision come true.

I think this is it - no further major changes from here, just refinements. The unit sounds GREAT in this video from his office!

That's said, I believe digital is just as good today....but people will buy this thing just because it's analog.

It's like an analogue FM9 only trade the vast number of amp and effect models in exchange for far less of both and get an on board power amp.
It would have been a huge success back when he first announced it. Now that modeling has advanced remarkably its like a novel offering to the tube purists approaching retirement age who's replacement generation rehearses live on TikTok and the 'Garage' is where grandpa left his real amp to gather dust.

And yes I'll buy one, just on principle!

I can’t tell if this triggered me because I disagree or because I fall into one of the groups being replaced.

Here it is the latest update from NAMM

He feels that the Guitar Summit in September is a good time to look at it and see where its at and what still needs to be done
Its Been A Long Time Waiting GIF

I gotta say I really enjoyed the sounds he was demoing, even through a camera mic at low volume.

He says that hopefully after Guitar Summit in September he would be able to sign it for mass production. Hopefully that means it would come out by the end of the year, or maybe the official launch is at NAMM 2026.

Still, the wait is disappointing as other products will come to market. A modeler + Amp 1 is already a great rig, with the only caveat being that it's digital and has latency.

Amp X is far away, but seems the limited edition Amp 1 Mercury Edition is finally coming...in summer 2025. :facepalm

That honestly looks so much better than the normal silver. I wish they used this color on the Amp X as well.

That said, no sense for me to buy one since functionally it seems identical. They could have at least updated it a bit to have the extras from the Iridium Edition, like the analog cab sim toggle, or the feature where reverb on = turn noisegate from "metal" -> "soft" which can be a good rhythm -> lead toggle.

That is ridiculous not putting the cab sim toggle in it. Just slap a new color on it and call it ‘special’?!?
I sold my Mercury edition just before NAMM thinking I’ll either be buying the X or getting an Iridium because I need that easy toggle feature. Now I’m thinking I’m glad I bailed on Bluguitar because he seems to be imploding.

Synergy Syn20 IR for the win!

Been doing some research lately on something that can power a cab & easy to lug around and the BluGuitar stuff's started to peak my interest.

I've now moved into the camp of people actually looking forward to this coming out instead of being in it for the memes lol - still gonna look for memes though until it does come out.

If you don't need the fx stuff, cab sims, extra amps and whatnot...just try the Amp 1 series. It's still a very versatile amp and it can fit into the side pocket of a gigbag for example.

I have been looking at the Iridium and Mercury reviews a lot the past couple of days and they seem right up my alley but I guess I've just got a case of FOMO for when the X comes out + it'll be an additional expense etc.

Won't pass up on deals for the Amp1 though if I do come across any.

I know you've posted several times about the Amp1 and how well you liked it. Did you own the Mercury or the Iridium?

I have the Mercury.

I've tried the Amp 1 Iridium a couple of times in a store and I don't like it as much. It's a lot more aggressive which may be preferable if you are primarily a metal player, but I just prefer how the Mercury sounds and feels. The Mercury feels a lot like playing a nice Marshall style amp. Not too tight, not too loose.

For reference, my go to sounds are probably somewhere in the "all eras of Gary Moore" vein from blues to 80s hard rock. I do dabble in metal stuff but it's a bit more old school too. Think Iron Maiden, Metallica, Ozzy, Judas Priest etc rather than modern metal bands. The Amp 1 Mercury does all that stuff really nicely.

Thanks for that.

Nowadays, I'm probably a bigger fan of the "Marshall"esque style amps - don't really dig the over-the-top compressed high-gainers as much as I did a while back.

What really intrigues me about the BluGuitar amp stuff is that, from the vids I've seen, they seem to have that nice, fast & big thumping transient response you'd get from a tube amp.
