I’ll give you the benefit of the doubt as you obviously don’t understand United States Trademark laws. This is not dissimilar to say, a company like Suhr naming their Classic-S “Stratocaster.”

All historical empires have good and bad shit about them. That's life. Want some shit that'll knock your head back, read up on the Barbary Pirates and their slave trade. What the same history books that at school told us how Great Britain was but left out all the bits about Raping Pillaging Murdering And Slavery and fucking up countries & there peoples around the world .
I don’t think they are on display anymore So give them back to where they belong because it’s deffonitely not London![]()
Ooops…Fist bumps to you @the swede - This'll get cleaned up when Drew wakes up, not to worry!![]()
Nah, was fully me. I take responsibility and ownership, like the good Colonial Marine that I am.Ooops…I forgot the rules… my post can also be considered breaking rules… for that matter.
Pfft… that’s up to the mods.

Just edit it to add some details about the quality of life improvements the people of Sri Lanka got from the Fleshlights the British sailors brought over to trade and he'll get all teary eyed and leave it in place.

Here you go ancient peps, fleshlights… now go grow some tea for us
From now on: having tea means something else.I should get stuck into some work now but think I'll get down with my Britishness and have another cup of tea.
People are always quick to slam down on British empire colonisation and so on…
Always good and bad shit happens. Because people are people who ever the fuck they are.
I am a half Swede half Sri Lanka dude and live with two “cultures” in my family. I’ve been to Sri Lanka a lot, have relatives there and many of the relatives live in Sweden now.
I’m well aware of the impact historically the British colonization had on Sri Lanka.
The British takeover from Dutch (which had to do with conflicts in Europe) was a good thing in the end… for the people. Both sides needed control over the area so the “intent” is fundamentally about war. imho: better British than Dutch. The Dutch didn’t do a great job… to say the least.
Without British rule/colonization Sri Lanka wouldn’t have been what it is today. They brought Sri Lanka from ancient to modern regarding everything. Schools, modern bureaucracy systems, politics, trade, infrastructure. Everything was kicked up a notch in the butt. One could also argue that the Buddhist nature of things was more likely to accept and wanting to receive external help than other countries/religions that the British had a harder time with.

The world is in for extremely dark days when this becomes true.BUT, legality can be mutually exclusive from justice
It is quite ironic that this all went down on the 81st anniversary of D-Day. But I'll leave it there. Don't want to continue the descent.all I can say is you folks need to stop associating your identities with that of your nation’s past
One can only hope that those days are behind us and that we learn the right lessons from them. The world is in for extremely dark days when this becomes true.
Speaking as a professional historian that has researched and teaches Empire, colonisation, and decolonisation at university for a living (ignore the fact that I literally live in one what was once one of the largest, oldest, modt lucrative colonies) all I can say is you folks need to stop associating your identities with that of your nation’s past. Not a very wise thing to do. Being a history buff is one thing, celebrating/apologising for the Empire is another. The ravages of colonialism are real. It’s not a matter for “debate” or “historical interest”. Almost a century of historical research has shown with very little doubt that colonialism may have sped things up a bit, but most of the modernisation it brought to the colonies was simply to extract more raw material and expand the markets for finished goods. The outgrowth of modern institutions was an unintended consequence. Defending colonisation for bringing modernity to the colonies is like defending the Nazis for taking humanity to the Moon. (I am also a historian of Fascism and the Far Right, but this can turn easily towards politics and religion so I’ll stop here)
Having said all that, I am not in the “return the thing to the folks” kinda person. I don’t stand for the whole “they stole it from us” rhetoric. BUT, legality can be mutually exclusive from justice. Legal contracts can be signed under coercion and duress. Doesn’t make the contracts just.
