Bad Cat Lynx

Musicians Friend is seemingly slacking on customer service training.

Back order was originally suppose to ship 8-24. Was cositantly given different ship dates by every agent I spoke with.

Yesterday they contacted me saying they no longer accept Paypal...what? I give a credit card and they say the amp is set to arrive to them 9-7. Today I get tracking saying it will be here tomorrow...

Imo anything outside of SW in the states is a gamble. As much as people rag on their "engineers" their customer service is unmatched

Years ago I used Sweetwater but they will no longer give decent discounts. Musician's Friend gives 15% off plus 8% reward points. This time they accepted my credit card which gives an additional 2%.

This was the worst experience I have had with them. Last order was a Ciosk DC7. They shipped it two weeks early.

Dang that is a juicy discount!

SamAsh is GREAT about giving discounts. I got the GM800 and GK5 for 15% off with a code. Which usually doesn't happen with new stuff.

Will know more in a few minutes.

OK, Note the dials in the photo. They seemingly ship it like this on purpose. If you dial it in like a normal amp it sounds...not so great.

Spent the last half hour with it and it can get all the tones in the videos except tight metal plugged straight in. For metal you need a boost. They are not using Marshall as a reference for this amp. There is a ton of bass not being cut in the preamp. For me this is usually a no go, but it gives this amp SO much versatility. Truly shocked at the range of tones it can do. Note all the dials are interactive, even the volumes. To get tight metal with a boost I crank the volume on either channel turn the gain LOW and use the master to set the volume. Can do Meshuggah to Fear Factory to Metallica. The amp has gain, way too much. Am I complaining? It throws you off at first but once you find how interactive everything is it makes sense.

The noise gate, works even for the super tight staccato riffs.

NICE!

Now if you could please fix the fact that the few Tonex samples that exist on Tone.net are only moderate gain, that would be awesome. (In a pack of course)

The one group of Mark VII captures out on Tone.net seem a bit off as well.

me want one
You can always visit MF and see they are auto 15% off with code. :) and don't forget the rewards...

What does the build quality look like on these newer Bad Cats?

I’ve been hesitant about them because on the surface they don’t look as tank like as the old Bad Cats
