Any of you dudes get banned from TGP?..Why?

Looks like a lot of you banned "members" found a new home, trust me it's a *much* better alt. than The LARP Page fka TGP due to the founding "members" selling out to Digital Enthused in 2019...

I'm not banned, still plan on using The Emporium for local sales/trades, but I'm done with the nonstop role-playing games, cosplay, guitar hero, vanity et al. $hit$how ~ It's turned into a great big circle jerk, with many newer "members" clearly not even musos, engaged in some strange fantasy where collecting/obsessing on gear is the price of admission...

Latest "member" trend: The Chatty Kathy , Self-Absorbed Vanity and/or Attention Ho "expert" posters/poseurs (look for the post count :ROFLMAO:) are appealing to the gullible members of the "community" after suffering medical issues/costs and/or unexpected expenditures via Go-Fund-Me (I hit the lotto Ma!).

Anyways, I'm pretty much done with the grab a$$ posts & volunteering to add to DE's (Are You Not Enthused?) click through, data scraping & other numbers games to enrich some wannabe Mark Zuckerburglar :wat

The commodification/monetization of TLP has gotten so bold, so in-your-face, that recently DE's IT geeks began blocking any & all direct links to Reverb.com, I'm guessing 'cause they wouldn't play the This site may earn a commission from merchant affiliate links like Ebay, Amazon, and others *game* (The Disclaimer is posted @ the top of *every* emporium page).

Oh, I just remembered I was *temp* banned 10 years ago for calling out St. Bill Finnegan's hypocrisy for playing victim while selling *new* OG Klons for $1500+++ on eBay...

Anyways, Happy Holidays! my fellow rascals! :pee

The trick on the internet is to never get into a discussion where emotion comes in play. The moment I feel it in myself, I am gone. Life is so freakin' short, why would I spend an hour trying to convince somebody of anything if I can watch "The Ultimatum" with my wife (yes I get the irony about watching trash while saying life is short).
Trash is the best kind of tv/film to watch. Bring on the Full Moon Features and Troma!

Your brain stops liking new music after your mid 20's. It's just what happens. You feel the way you do because of science.

I agree mostly because that's what happened in my case... Once 1991 came around, I was done... and interestingly enough, I actually knew it.

...with a handful of exceptions.

And those exceptions were genres that were either somewhat different from what I had saturated myself with, or different altogether (which would be new and fresh music to my ears).

Emotional outbursts are specifically why certain topics are largely forbidden on most forums. Some people are completely incapable of putting on their big boy pants and having a rational discussion with others. Kinda like trying to reason with a three year old.

100%

And what do you do if little bro has a fight with older bro. You tell them both to STFU so you can play guitar like a good dad.

Maybe that is what TGP does right. If you don't act like you belong here, gtfo. And I am pretty happy with that. But maybe it;s just a couple of rotten apples there that ruin the overal vibe. Most of them must also be active here and this forum is really friendly and funny and helpful.

It's a really small group of the same dudes spanning the few remaining guitar forums.

Same people. Same vibe. Same chit-chat patterns. Different avatars.

:cop

I mean, there can be only so many guitar people out there nerding so hard on guitar and Fractal and HX that they are ready to make an account and talk with other fellow geeks about it.

It’s more than a couple people at this point, it’s a total hive mind clusterfuck. You’re mostly safe as long as you stick to the actual gear related subforums, but even there you have to be wary of the people who find it virtuous to be offended by everything-and who attack those they find offensive. If you have an opinion on ANYTHING that isn’t in lockstep with the herd, you either keep it to yourself or expect to get attacked.

That's where it becomes obvious that you have paid posters shilling for manufacturers/defending any negative remarks against certain products.

It goes beyond "fanboi" with some of these accounts.

And no jokes about brands. Or what a brand says about a person.

Yep. Just look at all of the brand new members that showed up for the launch of the TMP. There was only one small thread at the time, so I find it hard to believe that a google search brought that many people in overnight. And all of them praising the shit out of the unit like a bunch of middle management zombies kissing corporate ass at the company picnic.

Couldn’t this also be the brands themselves pushing this via the known channels?

What channels are there, YouTube, a couple of gear forums and Reddit.

I don’t think many guitar / amp / pedal brands have really more channels than that.

Whatever it is, I find a lot of it to be kinda sketchy. Somebody buys aTMP, then seeks out a gear forum to gush about it? Seems to me that if a person is going to get involved in a gear forum, they would most likely also use the same forums to do a bit of pre sale research. And if you’re actively researching floor modelers in the $1500 price range, you’re going to know which units are fairly mature and which are experiencing teething pains.

Yeah I agree.

Normal would be to ask about a gear and maybe later give an update that you bought it

I would not go on a forum to tell I love something I just bought

That is for Reddit hahaha

Not just the over-the-top praise, but also the gaslighting and condescending attitude toward people who are bringing up issues with the unit. See also: Neural Quad Cortex launch.

Yeah very inpatient. I know I am really a beginner in helix land and may even be the worst guitar player on this forum, but there is so much patience here and just genuinely helpful people. On a couple of good ones there it’s really bad.
