Any of you dudes get banned from TGP?..Why?

I know from talking to a couple of the moderators over there.. there is no real review process when it comes to banning accounts.

If the moderator's wife's boyfriend complains about you - you're banned.

I can’t say it wasn’t deserved, but a perma-ban seemed a little much. It’s probably better for me to just read and not comment over there anyways. Otherwise I might have to ask someone what the scientific method for the “pain criteria” in their Hi-Fi thread is based on.

After a few warnings I started asking myself before posting something, "Is this going to piss someone off?" and if the answer is yes I don't post it.

Life is too short to get into BS arguments with people I don't even know on the internet.

I come to these forums to learn about gear. If a post isn't informative or if it's a comment about a person or their post not gear, even if it's about me, I just move on.

Changing my approach saved me a lot of grief and keeps me far away from the handcuffs of the TGP administrators.

Good point. Maybe after 20 years on the internet we should know that it always lead to stupid arguments that aren’t winnable while you are missing a fun movie on tv because you are sucked in your phone.

I haven't been banned, but I don't post on there anymore unless it's a specific non-opinion based question about gear.
TGP is basically a giant boomer jerk-fest

When you start talking about things like actual musicians or modern gear, there's just too many members on that forum that are out of touch. They're those guys that still refer to Brian Johnson as the "new guy" or create threads about why all you need is an amp and a guitar. They will constantly repeat stupid shit like "tone is in the fingers," as they hero worship guitar players like Eric Clapton or Jimmy Page.

We're all going to be there at some point, so I say let them have their jerk-fest.

I still think of Johnson as the new guy 🙃

As much as a lot of things on TGP annoy me, I *may* get a membership or whatever so I can sell my Synergy modules I am not using as well as quite a few of my overdrive and distortion pedals I no longer use.
That may have been a good play a few years ago but there is so much drama and scamming going on there now I wouldn’t bother. I bought and sold a crap ton of gear there over the years but I don’t sell there anymore and I would be very wary of buying anything expensive there anymore.

I bought a Nordvang Triple Gain from someone with PayPal (NOT F&F). Went well, but that is the only thing. Thanks for the insight, though. I'm not sure what I'll do with all of the gear (pedals mostly) that I no longer use, though. I refuse to give Reverb my personal details, especially when I am also expected to pay income taxes on used shit I am losing money on.

It isn't ?

It's part of it, especially with boomer blues, which is why older players repeat that line so much. If someone like Joe Bonamassa played a show with a $200 fender champion, he'd still blow the roof off the place. With that said, if Metallica or Blink 182 decided to use the insane mode of a line 6 spider to record a track, it would sound like absolute shit.

I have a couple of real life friends over at TGP. That’s the only reason that i went back. One asked why I just don’t make a new account and start over. I told him that i just didn’t value my membership there and it’s no loss. I can just chat with them via SMS text.
