Any cool way to nicely relic a poly strat body? I know this has been asked many times online, and that it's tough to relic poly without the guitar looking like it has simply been beaten up bad, but figured you may have some tips.
No because when you do a relic you need to replicate what happens to the paint that is not just damage. You need to look at real instruments that you’re trying to copy. A convincing relic always starts with the paint job . Discolouration and applied in the same way as your replicating. Thinning and checking if relevant.
Just attacking a poly finish always looks fake and usually terrible.

Ok, question for you - look at this pic and tell me if you notice anything.

Yes wonky. If that doesn’t bother you and the guitar is good in all other things keep it.
But it is your opportunity to swap and; but who knows what other issues could be in a different instrument.

You mentioned the importance of masking the fretboard when polishing frets in another thread. Do you have any experience with / thoughts on the Music Nomad Fret Shield slotted guards that block off the whole fretboard all at once?

It’s more for manufacturers using a pretty large buffer and want it done quickly. They need to fit perfectly through. With different scales and fret widths I would hardly ever get it to fit well enough. I can tape a neck pretty quickly anyway.
It’s a good idea but unless you’re a builder and that fits perfectly it’s not going to be that useful..

Hey Andy,

I've got a question for you, that (I hope) you can answer:

I have a PRS SE Tremonti since 2012. It's one of the early ones with wrap around bridge. Every time I play a low e (zero on the 6th string) I get a "cling". Nowhere else. Not anywhere else on the neck no matter if it's a fretted or open note.

You have any idea what this could be?

And: While we're at it do you have a reccomendation for a new bridge with individual saddles? Just having 2 intonation screws (each side 1) sucks.
