I've compared similar height nickel vs stainless and I seem to feel the same way: vibrato and bends more controllable with nickel. I wonder if it's got to do with the fret wearing more each time I bend.
There is more resistance on nickel, It’s a different feel . I’m guessing you prefer what you are used to.
I bet if you play only stainless steel for a month you will switch preferences.

Played stainless exclusively for years now : ) Then played a nickel guitar and mind was blown haha

Mr. @Eagle sir: direct mount humbucker, or pickup rings? We’ve got a debate going on at the shop, both in terms of how it looks, as well as how it affects functionality and sound.
I've grown to really like direct mounted pickups aesthetically so much that I've started to find humbucker pickup rings off-putting now :)

Not nearly as fugly as single coil mounting rings, though!

You mean the pick guard?

I play tf out of my guitars, so I want to get used to whatever will last the longest.

Depends on the guitar entirely for aesthetics, I personally like no ring on a modern guitar and rings on something traditional . For function both are equal if done properly. I would say the same for sound. It’s only a problem on either if the pickup is too loose.

What do you think about using montypresso relic wax to darken a rosewood fretboard? Have a neck I wanna use it on. Just a shade or two darker would be nice. What stops me is thinking the waxy gunk can potentially loosen the fret slots.

I should also mention that the frets are well seated but not glued in, on this guitar.

It’s shoe polish and comes off . It only really works by increasing the moisture content. You are better off using oil but this only works on some woods. Your frets are not in danger.

Random question Andy. The rubber tubing has split on one of the height adjustment screws for my tele. I'm about to order some replacements but have been presented with the option of 10 or 15mm. I've never actually bought this stuff before and am not sure what to get. I've always just fitted the tubing which came with any pickups I've ordered.

It’s 10mm for a tele bridge pickup.
