@Eagle any ideas where to source decent black two-pin tuners? I want to Stormtrooper my MIM San Dimas. Lock nut so I guess I could skimp a little.

Unfortunately only the bigger brands do two pin tuners . But you can usually cover the holes with a regular set but then you would need to drill a screw hole. Reverb and eBay sometimes have sets second hand in black.

Billy Howedel’s main Les Paul is probably a great example of this with it’s f*cked up headstock repair with the total wrong neck angle, IIRR, it’s a mutt of two different LP’s from two different headstock breaks but Billy made it work.

Or maybe a lesser example would be the re-fret I saw on Gilmour’s Red Strat where it doesn’t look like the frets are seated 100% in the slots-

Is that a hairline crack right at the neck?

What do you recommend for guitar cleaning products? I got the PRS kit and it smells like somebody's grandma.
It depends on the finish. It’s nitro and everything else. For nitro you can find a product that is intended for French polish or use a nitro specific guitar polish. The Gibson one is good. For other types there is no reason not to use furniture polish. Even a lightly damp microfibre cloth works fine.

That sort of crack line on a fender is almost certainly only the paint and usually because of either a neck shift jolt or differential expansion in the thin part of the wood compared with the thick block of the heel. Only cosmetic.
The other clue is cracks in wood always follow the grain.

Just ignore the Ron Ellis content…

@Eagle I didn’t mean to hijack your thread with my answer. I think I actually asked you that exact question when I was building my Tele partscaster.

I have another question, @Eagle . I am having a friendly feud with a couple of
friends who are blocking their trems on traditional S-style guitars. Any thoughts
and/or experiences to share on the pros and cons of doing so. :idk
