Good lord. I know; Fluff. But good lord

It definitely has it's own character. Even just from watching the Fluff vid and listening. The 180 watt factor is pretty much insaneI had one and got rid. Didn’t need it either
What I found weird was while I had it, everyone who played it in the room lost their mind over it. When I wasn’t playing it I thought it sounded better than when I was the one playing it. It has a really unique feel that you either like or you don’t.
It has this insane power and thickness that makes single notes feel like chords. It also is so compressed that it evens everything out. Both of those can make an amp quite flattering but if you really want to control your own dynamics it doesn’t give you much to work with.
Despite not really digging it, I did enjoy that it has a distinctive sound and the 180W headroom is really cool to hear and experience in the room for yourself. It really does just sound like it was invented for Korn and low tunings, with ultra clean effecty stuff in between the heaviness.
Tonally, I can’t say I liked it. Stuffy/fuzzy/bloated/lacking bite. Not for me
It’s definitely something you’ve gotta try for yourself. The build quality was awesome too, it’s an awesome thing to own if you dig the sound. It definitely has it's own character. That was another thing. Once you start window shopping the ridiculousness; you see other revisions and know deep down it's probably going to remain a dream unrealized. I watched a couple videos of the preamp pedal and the Synergy module but not sure what they are based on and that Diezel power amp I am betting is doing a TON of influencing of the overall tone and experience with the amp. It’s definitely something you’ve gotta try for yourself. Worth checking out the different revisions too. MKIII sounds most different to 1 and 2.
Sounds like it is like the VHX I played.Tonally, I can’t say I liked it. Stuffy/fuzzy/bloated/lacking bite. Not for me
Honestly, for the overall sonics I think most digital options sound bang on. The VH4 doesn't sound a million miles off either, there's definitely some overlap. Fractal has models of an earlier one and the Mark III, it was enough for me to sell the amp on and use models if I ever want that tone. That was another thing. FAS whatever up nice and loud really is a GAS killer for these lunatic amp thought processes. I can justify a 5150 or Recto or whatever but once you get past that; it becomes infinitely more difficult to remotely consider any of these sort of next level pieces. Especially considering I have no use for them beyond chugging away on some dumb drop D riffs a couple of times a week at moderate volumeHonestly, for the overall sonics I think most digital options sound bang on. Just checking the tones in the video and it reminds me of why I sold it. Too dark and processed sounding to me, and sounds kind of boxy and bloated rather than big and open. There are some bands that suit it but when I hear it, it sounds like someone took a rectifier and ruined it.
Can imagine, Im sort of scared to try a VH4 now because I dreamed of one for years and now I feel like I'll hate it.

I'm glad my kids are all past 16 so I don't have to have that conversation. "Sorry; you can't have a car. Dad needs another high gain amp!"SW has some open box ones for nearly $3800! What a steal!![]()
It's kind of cool but sad at the same timeIt's always interesting to look at what you guys in the US lust for, vs what we here in Europe drool over.
Based on this forum, European amps that are of interest are Diezels, Marshalls, ENGL, maybe a bit of Hughes&Kettner.
Over here we lust for Mesa Boogie, Tone King, Soldano, Friedman etc.
In EU the Diezels obviously aren't cheap either, but the VH4 and Herbert Mk III are 2899 € each, VH2 is 1899 €.
Versus Mesa Mark VII at an eye watering 4444 €.

To be fair, the only amp I've "lusted" for in that list would be a vintage Marshall 1959 or a new one, and lust is even a strong word. It's always interesting to look at what you guys in the US lust for, vs what we here in Europe drool over.
