All Things ENGL!

What did you get? I am counting on you to keep breathing life into this thread. :beer
As I was just telling JiveTurkey, I wussed out. :(

I kept telling myself, "I know I'll love this amp because I love playing the QC captures so much!" Thus reminding myself that I could just play the QC captures. :/

And yes, I imagine we were looking at the very same amp(s): an $1170 Blackmore on SW Gear Exchange, and a $1200 Artist 50W on Guitar Center? The former was what I was leaning toward, and naturally some promotion expired last night and the price jumped to $1300. And now that my brain has fixated on $1100 and change, I can't spend a penny more. That's just science LOL.

P.S. If you really want to keep breathing life into this thread, I'll ask again in earnest: What would you guys go with given the choice? A 100W Ritchie Blackmore, or a 50W Artist Edition. And why?

Getting more and more pregnant-er by the hour.

Those new Modded Marshalls are sounding sweet,
but not German enough for me at the moment. :beer

Personally, I'd get the Artist, just because it's the newer amp and I never hear anyone talk about the Blackmore anymore :rofl

But I talk about the Blackmore (and by extension the Savage?) all the time. :D If only because I dig the captures I've heard. But the problem with making decisions based on some black box capture named "ENGL Blackmore #5" for instance, is that you might find out after the fact that the chain you liked had three overdrives stacked in front of it.

Anyway, I do kind of suspect the Artist might be more reliable, given whatever advances ENGL had made in manufacturing over the years. Or maybe not.:idk I assume 50W means less $$$ into power tubes when the time comes, and what would I do with 100W anyway? :D

Will have to do some research as to what their respective voicings are meant to target (in terms of British vs. US, etc..)

Buy the Blackmore! Then I don't have to feel so bad and envious because you have an Artist Edition and I don't.

Man, you guys have my head spinning more than it already was.

I see you have a lovely stable of ENGLs @JerEvil . Any faves? Thoughts to share?

Thanks. :beer
Yeah man I REALLY like the Engl Smolski. The Crunch channel is actually quite good. All 4 channels are useful. I need to do a good demo of it. The Savage 60 MKII is also quite good. Much better than I remember the MKI being. I kinda hated the MKI but when this MKII came up for a stupid deal I gave it a go. Pleasantly surprised.

Maybe I’ll do a channel to channel shootout.

I don't even know who Victor Smolski is, but that is hot as hell! :love

Any time with a Morse, Blackmore, or Artist? :idk

I am smitten. That super dry, tight, percussive thing is a thing. :chef

Any real world experience out there? Lovers? Haters? Mehers? :idk

I had a Fireball 60 once upon a time and it kind of did nothing
for me. Traded it straight up for a Fryette Deliverance 60.

Been mucking about with the Engl Models on the Fractal and
really dig the Savage.

Thoughts? Experiences? Thanks! :beer

Had a Powerball II with the big foot switch (z something) for some time and honestly I loved almost everything about that amp.
Had also an engl 4x12 with V30 in the same period.

Ch3 was absolutely awesome when played live with my band and I will never forget how satisfying palm muting was.

Sold the head only because I felt the need to go back to marshall.

My band mate had a Retro Tube head for few months and that was a cool amp too.

Played a Savage for one night jamming with a band I was auditioning and that amp impressed me a lot.

Definitely love the brand.
