First off, Is there anyone here works for Pickboy distributors in the US or EU, because I've got some particularly nerdy questions.

Second, if you appreciate Pickboy picks specifically, here's the place 👍

I kind of been a pickboy fan for a while. They occasionally came into local stores when I was a kid, disappear, then turn up again at indeterminate intervals.

But quite recently, they started selling direct, with VERY cheap international shipping so ive been going a bit nuts.

Why I like em:

Despite being a bit funny to get outside Japan, theyre a proper alternate to Dunlop, I.e. not too expensive and come in bags of loads.

They're not "boutique", and dont get me wrong, nothing wrong with "boutique" picks (I happen to like chicken picks a lot) but the last couple of years Ive kind of moved away from every little thing being boutique.

They feel FAR more considered and deliberate in their design than Dunlop, as a combination of everything, material, thickness, finish and shape.

I prefer their material formulations. They just work better for me.

I say this all because when something is the standard, like Dunlop is, its often seen as "good enough", but I genuinely think if you went through the Pickboy range, you'd find something far closer to perfect for you (and a bunch you hate).

That shape as well.. ive seen it on a lot of japanese picks and I cant pinpoint its origin. Its not one of the d'andrea standard shapes as far as I can see.

Anyway, this is my haul with a Dunlop JIII XL top centre for scale.

Top to bottom, left to right:

1.00 metacarbonate, 1.00 ultex high modulus, 1.00 carbon nylon high modulus, 1.00 ceramic, 1.00 ultex pos a grip.

1.00 carbon nylon edge, 1.5 jazz celluloid, 2.00 resin, 1.2 polyacetal (delrin), 1.00 nylon.

I’d love to try one again. I’ve not had one since literally high school, when a (long gone) shop near where I bagged groceries carried Pick Boy. I had the white ones with the textured grip. This was……way too long ago. 😂

The carbon nylon with the ganja leaf has been my go to pick for 20+ years. They were easy to find here in Italy at the time.

Then I've discovered the jazz XL and settled there.
