So my buddy Tony Bruno is making me a special version of one of his famous amps, but because of you nerds I went and bought one of these.

Am I a hopeless gadget nerd? 🤓

When I need or want to use a multi-effects unit, in a really small board set-up, it'd likely be one of these two; but I tend to prefer dedicated pedals, combined with an Walrus ACS-1 on the tail end (If I'm going amp-less, which is usually the case, since a lot of my playing is in the middle of then night, and through headphones, in this little apartment LOL).

I may eventually sell at least one of these two (probably the HX Stomp, since I like the GT-1000 Core's interface better - and also probably since I've been using BOSS products, on and off, for forty-plus years (to include their GX-700, GT-3, and GT-10 multi-effects, which started in 1997).

The jury's still out on that. I feel like I'd take a big hit, trying to sell either of these, and since I'm not in dire straights, financially, I'm not really wiling to do that.

A few years back, I had this hair-brained idea that I was going to create mini boards, based around these two -to use in smaller venues, or places where it would be uncomfortable or ill-advised to bring in a big, expensive, heavy board - but it never really materialized. I'm still not really gigging again, any more. That could change, but so far....

I'd probably have been better off just buying three or four nice, dedicated effects, instead of those two.

Whatever you do, never sell the blue cap. If you do, you’ll regret it when pretty one goes a tumbling’ down.

"The Blue cap"?

Oh, that milk bottle screw top LMAO!

I needed something to prop up that GT-1000 Core so it wouldn't come toppling forward, and so I could have my hands free for the camera (well...phone), and that was handy - as odd as it looks!

I'm all for it! I bought my son the GP-100 and some of the tones are pretty good.

@JiveTurkey even Digital Doof in the Andterton video knows how to play Knoph 😉
I don't have any hands-on experience with the GP-100. But, overall, the amp and cab sim's on these processors keep getting better and better.

When I picked up the GX-700 in '97, they were nothing to write home about. But I was plugging that unit (and some other rack gear) into my amp, back when I was still gigging regularly, so it didn't really matter.

That was my first taste of multi-effects and I was hooked for a while.

In about 2018, I did a complete 180, and committed to going back to using dedicated pedals, pretty much exclusively. I missed the instant feeling of gratification, turning a single knob (or couple of knobs) on a pedal and getting noticeable results, without menu-diving - like "The Good Old Days". It was a much less involved set-up (comparatively speaking), but all that programming, to get the right custom presets to serve my purposes. I don't miss that one bit.
