York Audio vs ML Sound Lab

I use both of them. York Audio does the more vintage style, smaller cabs better. I prefer ML Sound Lab for 4x12s.

MIKKO 2 offers a lot and is fun to use, its main failing is that it has an excessive amount of 4x12s and not enough more old school speakers.

I haven't used either (unless unknowingly in a Fractal), but reading around in York threads I'm tempted to buy everything :facepalm

I haven't noticed similarly huge threads for ML, but maybe that's because I remember him as a djent guy (not my thing).

For my taste Justin seems to have more abilities overall, and wider interest.
OTOH, ML was into this early and I don't want to underestimate him. And he seems more active nowadays than York?
Maybe York has made his last IRs... (at least, it's been a while and I could imagine his last two projects gave him burnout).
And all of that for maybe some dozen or few hundred sales?

i have the Mesa Oversized Cab Pack from both. From what I can tell and feel, the ML stuff has more roudness in the notes, but the York is more defined and has more clarity, which makes the playing feel somewhat more immediate. Its weird ah ah ah

I will say, I haven’t used either one since Dyna-Cabs came out.

My purpose for third party IRs used to be because built in cabs/IRs were so bad. But now built in cabs have gotten so good I may never buy another third party IR

It‘s a matter of taste. Neither of them is objectively „better“.

To my ears the YA IRs sound kinda tinny and small, while the ones from ML are exactly the opposite - a little bit bloated in the low mids and scooped in the upper mids.

I personally like the Rock-Box libraries from OwnHammer best these days.

I'm still annoyed I got the MOABI Custom pack but I can't load it in Cab Lab..

Out of the 2 I prefer York seems to fit better for my style and seem to be well balanced in the overall frequency range
Although I'm currently using GGD contender pack which can be similar to York but has a little more low end in them.

I'm really loving his recto Dyna cab for cab lab 4. I wish I could just have that and no others on my axe3.

I don’t like dabbling in IRs anymore buuuuuut, my all time favourite that pleased my ears the most was the YA M65 Creamback. And the Deluxe.
I’m thinking about loading the M65 into my ACS1…. Haven’t really felt the need to. But it’s a quiet whispering thought teasing me far back on my mind.
