Wiring a momentary switch to Helix's expression pedal

I need a momentary switch function to temporarily switch on my keyboard sound which is controlled by an FX loop send. Before I used a mission L6 pedal to do this, but I really only need it on or off.

I measured the L6 pedal and it goes between shorted and 10k

My momentary switch is between open and short. This does not work. I tried inverting polarity in helix settings, no go.

Do I need a normally open switch and have it switch to 10k?

Or better yet, can I stick the Tuner function onto the Preset/Stomp location (since I never ever ever use this) and put a momentary switch where the tuner was?

Weird, it just doesn't work open and sort. I can even just pull a cable and pull its leads apart or touch them together and it isn't working, it does a blip during the transition but then goes right back to its original state

Open and short is correct for a switch - the HX Stomp does it like that. But is the big Helix capable of using those expression pedal inputs with switches? - I didn't see this in the manual.

10k and short is the way to go to use an EXP input for switching.

*Edit: I kind of misread your question the first time, sorry.
