So I forgot, but last week my wife dragged me to see Bob Dylan. I have never heard her intentionally listen to a Dylan song in the 26 years, but for her birthday, got her tickets so she could “see another legend before they die”
To be fair, it turned out to be a pretty good show - as Dylan standards go (IOW: decent). For an 84-y.o., his voice was strong, his piano playing was pretty on-point (if a bit ham-fisted here and there), and his band was killer (mostly acoustic, and Anton Fig on the drums), and the sound mix was crystal clear - both acoustic guitars, bass, piano and drums were perfectly audible and well-balanced. The stage was very subtly-lit, and Dylan wearing a jacket with a hood resembled the Unabomber…
The only bummer was that most of the songs were from his last album, and the only song in the set I recognized was a kinda neat rearrangement of All Along The Watchtower.
